It's a sad day for Crackdown discs everywhere as the Halo 3 beta expires (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/10/halo-3-beta-goes-to-a-happier-place/) ... will there be a mass exodus to the used bins at game stores, and tons of listings appearing on eBay?

If this video leaves you with a single lesson, it's that you should treat everything as if it might become anthropomorphized with a keen sense of revenge.

Now, if we could just get that creepy image of the dressed-up Crackdown case out of our heads, we'd be ok.

True, it is sad to see... However I will be keeping my copy of CrackDown. I LOVE that game, if only my 360 still worked though.

Except for the fact that Crackdown was played more than Halo 3.

Most-played 360 Games:

1 Gears of War
2 Crackdown
3 Halo 3 Beta
4 Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas
5 Guitar Hero II
6 Forza Motorsport 2
7 Hour of Victory Demo
8 DiRT Demo
9 Call Of Duty 3
10 GRAW 2

Yeah that was because most of our systems were in route for repairs. I dam near missed the whole beta due to the red rings.

Anyone that ditches Crackdown because the Halo 3 beta being over is an IDIOT. Crackdown is a keeper.

GS/EB already lowered their used price to $39.99. If you don't have this game already, now is the time to pick it up.

I started to get the beta downloaded by I also got the wonderful "red rings of death" so I've been without a 360 for some weeks. However, I got Crackdown from playasia.com for $29 while they were having a sale. Asian versions of games that are region-free = teh awesome.

I've been so busy with work and other things that I didn't even get a chance to download the Beta. :(

I wont get rid of my crackdown though, its a fun game.

Actually since you go through crackdown to get to the beta, those stats are probably counting the people who are listed as being in the game on their way to the beta in addition to actual Crackdown players.

Except for the fact that Crackdown was played more than Halo 3.

Every time I saw that list during the beta period, I kept thinking "you have to sign into Crackdown in order to play the beta," so every one of those beta players is also signing into Crackdown.

That leaves the difference between the two figures being people who were playing just Crackdown, with potentially all of the others signing into Crackdown to play the H3 beta.

I'm not sure how the numbers are calculated, but that kept sticking in my head for some reason.

That's exactly it. If even ONE person played Crackdown once without playing the Halo 3 beta it was going to inevitably end up ahead of Halo 3 in the rakings. Go back to the week before the Halo 3 beta was released, and you'll see Crackdown wasn't a contender in the rankings at that point.

You've all made great points. I guess we'll see how it unfolds now that H3 is gone.

I didn't play the beta once.

EDIT: It's not that I don't care about Halo 3, I think playing the single player game would help me judge it a little better. But then again, I don't wan't any spoilers.

I'm just gonna wait for the finished game to come out. It's only 3 months, anyway...

I didn't play the beta once and since it ends today I guess I won't be playing it at all but I have been loving Crackdown since getting it a week ago.

I played the Beta a few times, but ulimately, having to fire up Crackdown to play the beta, actually made me want to play Crackdown more. Had the Halo 3 beta been tied to some other game, I probably would have played Crackdown less. I absolutely love Crackdown and I think it's an early contender for GOTY awards. Of course, I'm sure it will be overshadowed by a bunch of the big games coming later this year, but I still think it's awesome.

As for the Halo 3 beta...I've got one 3 letter word to sum it up

meh.
