No, they went down in April. I assume you mean for the Dreamcast or Gamecube versions?

There are some free Servers out there for the Gamecube that I know about, but should probably not post about it.

Have you tried Phantasy Star Universe? I've been playing it since it came out late last year, and love it!

If you have a 360, I highly suggest getting this version over the PS2/PC versions.

Phantasy Star Universe was a huge disappointment for me. The good thing is that you should be able to find a copy for pretty cheap now.

I bought the PS2 version of PSU, and there's a whole lot of loading screens in it. A hell of a lot. And to be honest, I personally find it to be a lot weaker than PSO. In Phantasy Star Online, once you finished the single-player quest, you had the option of going to 'hard mode', essentially starting over but with more advanced gear to find and higher difficulty. There wasn't anything like that in PSU. Once I finished the main quest, I played the last few levels over, and gave up out of boredom. I had read that they were going to work more on the single-player side of PSU to make it a little meatier than PSO. They failed. Since I don't ever play games online (playing videogames for me is a way to escape all the douchebags in the world, not to seek them out on the internet) this was a huge disappointment for me. The single-player mode seems like even more of an afterthought than in PSO.

Yeah - I'd stay away far, far away from PSU.

Very disappointing. I got bored with it about the 3rd mission. And they should've made online play free.

The original Dreamcast PSO can still be played online, but not through Sega's servers. This place might help you out in your hunt...

The offline story of PSU is slow paced and boring. I really like the online play, and the 360 provides much faster gameplay then the PS2 version. In the last few months, PSU has added way more content, and an online event! "Operation Firebreak".

With another event on the way,and the expansion set to come out later this year, PSU will be around for a while.

PSO was PSO, and PSU is PSU. I remember thinking that this game wasn't as fun as PSO when I first started playing. But after I learned more about the gameplay and weapons crafting system, I can honestly say that I enjoy each game for what they are.

This current version of PSU, is still churning out updates and content. The level cap is about to be raised yet again, and I cant wait for even more out of the expansion.

- PSU fan ;P

There are also Dreamcast servers lot there, too. Try Google-ing for "SCHTHACK Servers", and you'll find out all you'll need to know (They are also compatible with the Gamecube and PC versions)

Glad to see I'm not the only person that put PSU down after the first month. Of course, the shakey start on the JPN side of things didn't help. I don't have thousands of hours to put into it. For me, it was way too much of a grind, and that whole "making items" bullshit REALLY put me off. That was the straw that broke the camel's nut sack.

I know there are free DC servers. Are there free Gamecube servers as well? I would really like to see a free Blue Burst server. It's sad to know that one day, Episode IV will be entirely unplayable.

EDIT: OOoh... a private BB server. :)
