I hate to say, it really doesn't look like much of an improvement over the Doom 3 engine. Plus everything still has that 'plastic mannequin' look.

These 2 pictures looks the best in my opinion. The face looks good too, but UE3 engine faces looks better from what i've seen (atleast i think those are in-engine what i've seen). I cant really judge too much tho, these pictures are too small and are taken with a camera (i think). I'll wait for better screens and direct feed movie(s) :)

These pictures look very PS3 to me for some reason.

Oh, i also found this very interesting :)

"What we've got here is the entire world with unique textures, 20GB of textures covering this track. They can go in and look at the world and, say, change the color of the mountaintop, or carve their name into the rock. They can change as much as they want on surfaces with no impact on the game."

Now all we need is full (then i mean full) enviorment destruction and its all good ;)

Fully destructable environments are supposedly happening with Battlefield: Bad Company in late 2007/early 2008.

Plus everything still has that 'plastic mannequin' look.

That's my biggest complaint about their engines. The characters in Doom 3 were pretty laughable.

The graphics that the game engine usues generally improve over the lifespan of the engine. I would hope, and I expect, that the greatest increase in this generation engine would be with the physics. The graphical part should be a simple scaling upwards from the previous generation with any new support as needed for developers...

It all looks fake and rubber like. Not an improvement.

Well the masses have spoken..... Mr. Carmack, please quit using the bloom effect to such excess, please.

And is it me, or do the cliffs look like something created in an early version of Bryce?

Back to the drawing board, id. The CryEngine 2 and Unreal 3 engine already have this engine blown away, graphically.

I am impressed with the destructable enviornments, however...
