Did the Sega Mega Drive (or Genesis as you lot know it), have a built in game?

Didn't it have Altered Beast or Sonic on it or something? Can someone please confirm this?

I'm asking because I'm interested to know ,and I might be picking up a Mega Drive 2 (Genesis 2) tomorrow.

Nope.....it had those two games come as pack in games....Altered Beast came with the Genesis 1, as did Sonic 1 occasionally, and Sonic 2 came with the Genesis 2 (but sometimes you had to get it mail order).

er, actually...you're in australia! each region had different pack-ins at various times. u.s. games got what maxxlords said, plus there were other deals at certain retailers (note the amount of "not for sale" genny titles that turn up now and then). there were also core systems alone with NO software. so if you're buying a new unit (which would be grand!), you may or may not get a game depending on what it says on the box. keep us posted... :-D

I just bought the Mega Drive an hour ago, here's the run down...

Sega Mega Drive 2 (with original RF and AC adapters and six button controller) - loose $22 AUS.
Also got Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (loose cart) - $3 AUS

I think it's a bargain!

I also find it interesting that the cart is made here in Australia! I didn't know Sega had a manufacturing facility here!

Plus, I have a question: Was the Mega Drive 2/Genesis 2 meant to come with the six button controller?

I am pretty sure the 6 button controller was meant for the model 2 unit. I prefer it over the big 3 button model myself.
