So I got this idea the other day. Rather than share little bits of knowledge with customers (and staff) here and there, I'm going to BLUDGEON them with it right up front. If you come to the store, you...

That's cool, I'm glad someone finally enjoyed it. I certainly would have. I've done linkup on many systems, but never on the Playstation.

Next time you are feeling like doing something you should do it on other systems that are lesser known. Maybe PS2, Dreamcast or Neo-Geo (not very likely to happen I would imagine). I think Time Crisis 2 coop would get much more attention, though those monitors you have may be small for light gun games.

man, I love linking up my playstations. Twisted Metal III isn't bad, but my favorite by far is command and conquer. We have a great thread floating around here somewhere that lists all the linkable games.

Great idea, getting more info out there about the capabilities of different consoles. next, link up some game gears, or NGPC!!

A "did you know" with the Dreamcast VGA Adapter might be neat, if you have any to sell!

Dead in the Water is quite fun through link cable. Much moreso than single player.

It's too bad you can't link the PSone systems. The LCDs would have made linking up so much easier.

Indeed. Here is a list of all the PS1 linkable games:

This is an awesome, awesome, idea.

I think it show that you're not only in the business of selling games, but helping folks understand them too, in order for them to get the maximum amount of enjoyment out of their system and games.

If I had a hat on, I'd tip it to you. but I don't.

If you really want to bludgeon your customers, you should link up 6 copies of Gran Turismo 3 in six linked PS2s hooked up to six monitors for the two player surround screen mode.

I'd love to even see pictures of that. Or better yet, you should fly all the stuff out to California and set up somewhere near me so that I can try it out. Then I'd be thoroughly bludgeoned.

Oh yeah! That's GT4 that does that (not GT3), right?

I'm definitely going to try it out with 3 monitors. I don't know if I can fit 6, but I've certainly got all of the equipment here to try it out. I'll report back in a week or two when it's time to change things up.

I'm 99% sure it's GT3 only. I think the slims were starting to come out around GT4, without the iLink (Firewire/IEEE 1394) ports.

For more than two consoles at once, you are going to need a Firewire hub and proper cables and do it will all older PS2's. Not even all fat PS2's have the ilink ports, just the earlier ones.

This is correct.

I'd like to see this set up as well, even if it's one of the few games that supports the i-link. You could also setup TimeSplitters in a similar fashion for two-screen deathmatching.

If you need a hub and cables, Joe, let me know-working at Best Buy is quite helpful in this regard.

Speaking of linking, last week I saw the use of Forza 2 on 3 TVs (making a left, right and center continuous screen effect). Pretty cool, but it requires 3 Xbox 360, 3 copies of Forza 2 and a router.

Excellent idea, Joe. A bunch of different ideas have popped into my head for future tidbits:

• Namco’s NeGcon Controller and the various games it used (there’s a thread about this: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56500)

• World Series Major League Baseball for Intellivision (how it used both the ECS module and the Intellivoice)

• Stella Gets a New Brain CD

• Steamroller for Colecovision (prototype with limited release years later)

• Smithereens! for Odyssey 2 (how it used the Voice not only for speech but for sound effects)

• Incredible Wizard for the Bally Astrocade (yeah!!)

• show how Boulder Dash was released for multiple platforms (maybe have an Atari 800 and a Commodore 64 and/or Colecovision all set up)

• have an Atari 5200 set up with Montezuma's Revenge (or, better yet, Ballblazer for simultaneous 2-player action) and various joystick adapters and tell about the different joystick solutions that companies and people came up with.

These are just a few if you'd like to put them on deck.

Thing I used to do..(It was a big hit here)

PS2 GT3 linked X3 ..Three PS2s,Three TVs,3 copies of the game and three Logitech Force Feedback USB Steering wheels (Two are the GT model and one is the Driving Force ..I had 4 wheels but never used one then sold it..
The Driving Force has more options then the GT..
Logitech GT Force Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec model Force Feedback Racing Wheel.
http://i3.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/a4/0e/7d49_1.JPG

This was awesome "but" having each wheel on a table set-up takes up a lot of room so you may not want all that space taken up...All the wires etc was pretty rough to deal with as each Wheel has an AC plug.
You can use the wheel in your lap too but it really kills the use of it as the wheels give you a fight with the Force Feedback ..

Logitech Driving Force Steering Wheel model Force Feedback Racing Wheel.

Driving Force Steering Wheel & Pedals Feel the new level of driving realism in GRAN TURISMO 3 A-spec and other driving games that support Logitech Force Feedback. This newest force feedback steering wheel lets you feel the road; car handling; bumps; walls; and crashes like never before. The wheel has rubber hand grips for premium comfort and precise steering control. Two wheel-mounted paddles can be used as gear shifters or as gas and brake controls. There are eight action buttons and a D-pad for easy control of car functions. A dual clamping system with lap attachment holds the wheel base tight and secure. Includes realistic gas and brake pedals. Requires the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system.

......
Joe..
Anyhow..If you'd like to use these wheels some day and I have three copies of the game..Let me know.
You know just how hectic my schedule is so I'm not sure when I'd be able to get them up there.*_*

I would do one that said, "DID YOU KNOW ... shitty games can be really fun to play?" Then I'd put a big basket out with all your spare copies of ET (2600) and Superman (N64) and sell them to kids.

Kidding aside, I think it's a great way to both demonstrate some fun games and teach kids some oldschool knowledge as well. I always thought a neat game store idea would be "Evolution", setting up 3 consoles from old to new and showing the same game (or similar games) over the years, like baseball for the Atari 2600, SNES, and Xbox or something.

Actually, you can use 4(!) TVs, monitors, etc, and you can have a rearview mirror behind you!

You should consider linking 32 Jaguars together. That would be fun.

Original Forza does it too, FYI.

Forza 2 can handle at least 6 screens, possibly more
