Check it out, here is the link (http://cgi.ebay.com/SUPER-MARIO-WORLD-MISSPRINT-RARE-SNES-super_W0QQitemZ150129362087QQihZ005QQcategoryZ6205 3QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

I mean what are the chances of the printer running out of ink like that and printing in blue instead of green. Maybe not worth $500 but I could see paying $100 for it.

The only other misprint I have ever seen is my copy illusion of gaia which i received off of ebay in a lot of games. There must of been some malfunction at the factory because the label was completely missing from the cart. I have pics if anyone is interested.

He says he has the only "missprinted" game available for sale on eBay. Perhaps if he knew how to spell "misprint" his search would have turned up more results. Personally I see nothing special about this, but is this something that actually interests other collectors?

The game just has a faded label, I have many copies of Super Mario World that look like that. What a joke.

Or complete genius! I just spent the past 2 hours microwaving all my SNES games and posting them on eBay as misprints.

LOL, def. looks like colour fade to me rather than misprint.

I had a misprinted Dracula Unleashed for the Mega CD once. The discs had a red and black design on and on one of them, the part in red ink was misaligned at an angle of about 45 degrees from the part in black ink - made a very odd looking disc!

I concur. In my experience, it's just a label that's been damaged via sun-fading. Nothing special. It's not like the Metal Gear Solid mis-print which was bought by the PlayStation Museum site and then resold again a few weeks ago.

Minor sun fading, nothing more

Ugh, sun fading makes me think of old video rental stores, barf :D

Hmm, that looks different than my copy. On mine, the lettering is centered and away from the bar. I didn't know there were different revisions of the cart...

(No, I'm not thinking mine is somehow special, just that I'm ignorant :)

Thats what I was thinking. Maybe I should put my former rental game boxes on ebay as misprints for the discoloring.

Uh, that took about one second to figure out it was a sunfade. Seller= moron.

That was funnyLOL. I looked at the auction before reading everyones post and first thing I thought was thats just a faded label. Looks like he hooked a sucker though.

Yeah, there was at least a couple of revisions.

There is also a players choice version, but I do not have a scan of that.

As for the seller, someone would have to be really ignorant to believe that a faded label qualifies as some "OMG ULTRA RARZ0RZ" variant.

Here's something I wrote over a year ago:
http://assemblergames.com/wiki/dogatemysnes/pmwiki.php?n=Topics.SMWCARTVERS

The first two cartridges are of the original Super Mario World with the plastic mold for locking on a North American Super Nintendo unit, similar to the PAL and Japanese carts. The first one is the first NTSC-U/C cartridge of Super Mario World to be made. The difference between the two is that the text Super Mario World is on one line in one, and in 2 lines on the other. The second and third carts also have a lighter shade blue background from the first cart. The last cart does not have the plastic mold.

Ah, yeah, mine is the first revision (dark blue, words all on one line). I didn't notice that big difference earlier, because I only looked at the spine, but that explains why the pictures on eBay seemed a little off to me.

Not that it really matters. Though, I'm going to sell it on eBay now, saying it's a special dev-only version, as all other copies of the game have lettering on two lines. When I'm a millionaire from this, I'll let you guys know. :)

Thanks for the info, Mark30001 and Evan_G.

Here are two of his silly responses to my questions, I was bored and just wanted to see what he would come up with :)

i was mainly listing it to a get an idea of what i could get for it, since i have never seen another one like it one ebay. or anywhere else for that matter. Alot of people wrote me some pretty mean emails, because of how high the buy it now price was, but whatever. If your a collector this is very cool, its not sun faded or any tricks which alot of people seemed to think it was, you can clearly see it is a "MISSPRINT" anyways it cost me $20 buck just to list it because of the hight buy it now price and reserve, but i am going to relist it. If you have an offer i would love to either just sell it to you without listing it again or set ap a buy it now auction, but either way t will be up at the end of the week again with a much less reserve. LET ME KNOW!!!

No i dont think that it is sun fading. the colors are to perfect, sun fading would leave some parts different than others. on this cart you can clearly see that the printer just ran out of ink. I mean i does happen, plus tell me how green would fade to blue, it would be blue fading to green. the blue is actually a crisper color than the green.

Anybody will do anything to make a buck or two. The seller is just trying to find a chump buyer. Who will take the bait. lol

Face it dude, it is just a regular SMW cart with a faded label, and it is not worth more than $5-$10.

I have a rare golden SNES. I'm rich.

Someone already tried that. Their horribly faded snes was dubbed the killer instinct gold edition snes.

So...we all place bids and put it to well over a few thousand and then have someone with 0 feedback win? Sounds good to me.

i dont think thats a misprint myself... ive had games that had the color on the label just fade over time, thats what it looks like to me.

The only SNES 'missprint' I've ever seen was simply a mis-placed label. It was placed upside down, with the spine at the bottom. It was worth nothing more than the standard cart.

I can't count the number of Super Mario World carts I saw that looked like that while I worked at GameStop. Looks like I should have bought them all. LOL

I have never seen a missprinted label on a video game and i have been collecting for years. This is extremely RARE and is the only missprinted game on ebay for any system. THIS IS A COLLECTORS DREAM!!!!!! if you insist on having rare and valuble games this is perfect for you. SHIPPING WILL BE FREE!!!!!!!!! as this game fetched over $350 the last time one turned up.

So he has never seen a misprinted label before in years of collecting, but he does know that the last one sold for over $350
