I really loved Fester's Quest, so hard as a kid but me and my friends loved it to the end. The music rocked and the 3D was cool too, I finally finished it in the end and still love the game.
Second favorite would be the Addams Family for NES, never finished it but got so close. I loved the exploration it offered.
I didn't like the rest I played (Pugsley's scavenger hunt) and haven't played Values.

My favorite would also have to be Fester's Quest. I loved that game as a kid, even though I found the bosses to be extremely difficult, if not impossible to beat. Have never managed to finish it.
I also quite enjoyed Addam's Family Values. It's an Action RPG for the SNES. Short, but it has a lot of charm.
Fester's Quest is a childhood favorite of mine. It was hard as hell, but I still went back and played it. Adams Family Values is very similar to Fester's Quest, it's decent from what I've played.
Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt sucks, just like the animated series it was based on.
The Adams Family game for SNES is my favorite out of the bunch.

Fester's Quest (aka Blaster Master's bastard child) ftw.
Pugsley's scavenger hunt on SNES was one of my favorites..however the ending was so terribly rushed, but the detail in graphics reminded me somewhat of Super CastleVania 4's backgrounds (Like in the Library, in stage 7)

I voted 'other'.
My favorite Addams Family game isn't a video game - it's a pinball machine ;)
Fester's Quest is the only one I have, so I'll vote for that.

SNES version. By far the best Addams Family game outside the pinball machine. Floaty control, but you get used to it.

I have to agree with this guy right here, put me down for "other" as well. I almost forgot about that pinball machine until now.
I don't really have a favorite Addams Family video game though.

My vote goes to "other" for the Adam's Family game for the SNES, a really solid platformer that deserves more attention if you ask me.

I think that my favorite is probably the TG-16 CD game based on the first movie. Not because the game was actually very good, but because of the memories I have of how excited I was as a kid to actually own console CD-ROM games back then. :)

Sorry I completely forgot about the pin machine. I see most like Fester's Quest as well. I love the tunes and still remember the first time I saw the first boss. Those bosses are so awesome looking.

Festers Quest is one of the worst games ever made and every time I see it I want to punch a cripple in the good limb. If you like that game then you are a fool.

I liked Values on Genesis. Not sure if that was the same as the SNES game.
Pushing this thread up for a question.
Is there much of a difference between The Addam's Family and The Addam's Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt for the SNES? I know Addam's Family Values is an action/RPG type; I have that one.
Also, what are your opinions on the Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt for NES?

The first Addam's Family game is a platformer based on the first movie, while Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt is a platformer based on the short lived cartoon from the early 90s.

Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt is a different game from Addams Family and almost like a sequel, though the first SNES one was loosely based on the movie and Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt was based on the cartoon. I remember liking it, but I think I liked the previous game on SNES better, which would get my vote. The NES Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt, despite the title, is just a toned down port of the first SNES Addams Family with Pugsley instead of Gomez as the main character.

The Pinball machine is indeed something of legend. Forget the rest.
Oh, ok. So the Pugsley for NES is a port of the SNES game "The Addam's Family". The SNES Pugsley is an ENTIRELY different game from either of those. Wow, that's crazy confusing. Thanks, though.

Addams Family for SNES. one of the very best platformers for the Super NES. I've finished it many times, just so entertaining you can keep going back to it. but you have to play on real hardware with a snes pad. id imagine it wouldn't be so great on emulator but then again i don't really think any games are good on emulators

Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt is more of a traditional door to door platformer that doesn't have as much exploration as the first Nes Addam's family game. While you still have to rescue your family, you really don't have to collect a certain amount of anything IIRC in order to finish the game. I thought the graphics were pretty good (late Nes title) overall. The bosses are really cartoony and the enemies are pretty unique (like a polar bear rug spitting ice cubes) and that makes up for the fact that there are a lot of blank backgrounds. One thing I don't get is why there is no music, only sound effects, except on the menus screen and when you rescue a family member. I know the first one had a total of 3 songs, but you really feel like you're missing something here.
EDIT: I think I'll vote for Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt for the Nes. I remember really looking forward to playing that game after enjoying the first one and that's RARE for an Ocean title. I'd really like to try the Snes/Genesis versions though. Are the Game Boy versions worth playing?
@Briangvgplayer - Thanks, but I already knew all that.

You are right about something being missing. As said before in previous posts in this thread, NES Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt is a toned down conversion of the first SNES game (not the SNES Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt, which is a completely different game, though IMO close enough in gameplay to the first SNES Addams Family to be a sequel of sorts), which has in game music. SNES Addams Family is much better than the toned down Pugsley version of it on NES. The Genesis Addams Family is based off the SNES version.
The GB Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt is a port of the NES version (and is still missing music), but the first GB Addams Family seems to be unique to GB. In that one, Gomez has different weapons like a knife, a golf club, and a fireball. Gomez also bears a strange resemblence to Mr. Spacely from the Jetsons in that version. I'm not sure if it's any good.

Wow, I'm floored by all the love for Festers Quest! I totally agree -- bought the game for my dad when I was like 7 because he liked the Addam's Family and I thought he's like it, he basically never played it but I did and thought it was really amusing although a little too difficult. It was absolutely necessary to play with a rapid fire controller though, otherwise forget it!

SNES Addams Family is my favorite (Loved finding all the hidden rooms and the music is great), but I also enjoy Fester's Quest. Best game to use the NES Max controller on. I remember first renting it after taking back a true stinker of a game: Adventures of Dino-Riki.

I'm glad to see that there is so much love for the SNES Addams Family. It's my favorite platformer of all time. The room titles, a European touch, add some humor, and the hidden rooms and walls with all their secrets made you wonder why all platformers weren't this well-designed. Pugsley's Scavenger hunt, while built around the same concept, was too hard and just not as much fun. Also, Pugsley looked like a tool and Gomez looked freakin sweet.
There's a great article in a Retro Gamer from a year or two ago where the developers said that when they went to design Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt, the spark had gone and they couldn't recapture the magic they had in the first game.
Retro Gamer. Man, they're awesome.

I mildly enjoyed Addams Family on SNES, so that would be my pick. I don't know how much I would've enjoyed it without using the Nintendo Power coverage, though. I blew through the game that way, and also got essentially infinite lives thanks to the secret rooms. The controls are all kinds of slippery, though, and they made a REALLY boneheaded coding mistake that causes all passwords acquired when your life total ends in 9 to not work. I think the most fun I had with the game actually was using an FAQ that broke down the password system and using binary to decimal conversion to make my own passwords (when the 9 glitch screwed me over), haha.

Those password glitches are annoying. I know Bubble Bobble NES has a similar glitch and Golvellius SMS seems to occansionally generate non working passwords, as well.
Pugsley looked like a tool and Gomez looked freakin sweet.
Hanna-Barbara's 90s Addams Family cartoon designs were the blame for that. Even Gomez was a bit off, wearing pink.

Hey BoC, can you give me tips on how to advance in TAF? I find the slippery controls to make the game harder than it needs to be. So far, I've only been able to beat the bird boss at the tree area and secure an extra 3rd heart. Where should I attack next? The only next boss I can make it to is the snowman, but so far am finding him too hard to kill with just 3 hearts.
Also, in the kitchen, I turn off the heat but not much seems to happen?
I'm trying to dig the game, but as soon as I get close to REALLY enjoying it, it'll throw me with some ridiculously hard section that kills whatever momentum of enjoyment I've been having. And I don't mind hard games too much, see B.O.B. for example, but TAF seems even more difficult than B.O.B.
Any tips appreciated, thanks.

You're doing things in the right order, Steven. The best way to kill the bird is with the sword. If you stab at him, it will take away 3 or 4 of his hearts at a time. The very first thing you should do is get your 30 or so extra lives at the beginning of the game. Do you know where the extra rooms are? If not, check out this video.

The ice level is just plain difficult at first. Having the extra lives makes it a lot less frustrating. Also, making sure you have the shoes on, a sword, or the ball thing is just like having an extra heart, so I make sure to stay equipped whenever I can.
I hope you stick with it! Let me know if you have any other problems and I'll try to help you :)

Last night I played it with GG invincible code, just for kicks. Some of the stages, even when I try NOT to get hit, I still get hit about 20+ times. This game is insane. And at most you have what, 5 hearts? Are you kidding me? They should have made this more like MegaMan :P
In the end, for me at least, this is just one of those games that is far too difficult for its own good.

Most Ocean games are like that. Try beating Cool World without a strategy guide. Especially the Snes version.
