How hard is it to find these? Searching eBay for an official Saturn controller is looking really discouraging. On account of getting screwed repeatedly, I try to avoid 3rd party game controllers as much as possible. I need more controllers and a multitap if I want to play Bomberman with my friends, though. I'm in a bind!!! What do I do?
Finding a copy of Bomberman < $40 doesn't look good either, I think I might have to swap trick that one if I can even find somewhere to borrow it from.

If you can't find any official Saturn controllers on eBay, I would suggest you check out small mom and pop game stores that deal in used games and accessories. Flea markets are a good place to check also, and you might even have some luck if you posted a wanted thread in DP's buying and selling section. Good luck.

That's a link to a Japanese one for about $9, I think they have multi-taps on the site also. They'll work in a US console also.

Well, how many do you have right now? I'm assuming you have at least one. If you don't have NiGHTS yet (which I hope is not the case) then you need to buy that immediately, along with the 3D controller. Now beyond you're first two controllers, save money and buy the 3rd party controllers. They'll work-- the problem will be they just won't be as comfortable and functional as the Sega ones. But, I say, who cares? Save money and screw your friends over with the crappy controllers. And if they complain, tell them to go buy their own.

In the past I've seen the multi-tap usually go for 10-20 dollars. Don't go bidding like crazy for one since I don't think there is that much of a demand for it.

Holy crap, that japangamestock site looks amazing! Anyone order from there before?
And I do have NiGHTs, the 3d controller and the normal controller. I love that game.
EDIT: well, it looks amazing until you have to pay for shipping from Japan, ouch...

$9 would be expensive for a official controller no matter what; whether you had to pay the shipping or not. You'll get it cheaper going on eBay rather than through a dealer.

Definitely. The store Game Craze here in Rochester has a good number of multitaps NIB for like $15 bucks. Used controllers go for around 5, new ones go for around 15.

Not this one:

Why's that, Mobius? The second one is from the model 1 Saturn, correct? That's the one I already have, then I have a 3d pad.

Yes, the bottom one is the Model 1 and the top one is the Model 2. The model 2 is extremely comfortable and has the best D-Pad of any controller, ever. Especially if you want to play the Saturn's fighters, it's a god-send.

Agreed, but we're not talking about main controllers here. We're talking 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th controllers. I say save the money and get the cheapos. How often do you really expect to have 3+ friends over playing multi-tap Saturn games? Being a Saturn fanatic myself, I hope the answer is "for hours upon hours every day", but being realistic I think the answer is closer to "rarely". So get some cheap controllers and put the rest of the money towards buying the multi-tap compatible GAMES!!! Unless you're rich-- of course, then you can do whatever you want and spend $40 on 10 year old controllers. But otherwise, tell your friends to shut up and play with the crappy controllers, or go home.
This common sense tip is like Rule #1 of multiplayer gaming.

But he doesn't even have the good version, yet! He should get the model 2, then retire the model 1 to visitors-only.

True, but the 3D controller is often the better choice for later games on the system because of its analog control. Even on earlier games the 3D controller is more than adequate and is the controller I always use even though I have a Model 2. I think the only exception were Model 2 is more mandatory is for fighting games.
