I was just watching a burned dvd on my xbox and I got up to take a bathroom break, I paused the game and left when I came back no more then a minute later I unpaused the movie and my xbox went to a screen that says my xbox needs service? Has this ever happened to anyone and is there a way to reset the box or drive? Turning the system of and on or disconnecting does nothing. I also noticed the led now flashes green and red.

Sounds like HDD failure. Do you get an error code in the upper left of the screen or no?
If it is HDD failure, a modchip needs to be installed (at least temporarily) to put another one in.

I don't get any error codes. As soon as I boot it up it goes to a screen telling me I need service. In multiple languages.

look at the upper left corner of this screen, see the "06"? That's the error code number. Unless your xbox is older then dirt (ie, manufactured around august 2001) it should have a number there. That'll tell you what failed:

Thats the screen I get but no error code my xbox is a 1st day launch machine. it originally came with a thompson drive and that failed slowly about 2 years ago so I replaced it with a pc samsung modded drive. However this time I didnt get any warnings or loading errors it just gave out. Im going to buy another dvd drive and see what happens.

Don't. You need a new HDD, and a chip soldered in (at least temporarily) to be able to use it.
