How do you know that its a 'fixed' version? Is there some kind of package denotation on it?

Philosophyst and I had a discussion about how the fixed version and the glitched version differ over at atariage. We compared my glitched one with his and basically there is a slightly diffirent number code to the right of the barcode. This number code also varies on the instruction booklet and the game itself if I remember properly.

Yep, rustblackend is right. There is a "REV1" near the bar code on the fixed version where the glitched copy does not have this.
