any good? I hear its bad, but the Saturn version seems to have a cameo of Woodman from 2, and it might be worth it for me to get the game because of that! lol

I never liked 8 as much as the original six games. I disliked the plot and new characters, the stage select taken from the Gameboy games (four bosses at a time), and the bosses themselves seemed uncreative. The graphics were good, though -- I'm glad they stuck with 2D for it.

It's a perfectly fine game. I've beaten it. It's fair. The only part I didn't like was the bike stage at the beginning of Wily's castle. Everyone who's played MM8 has probably died quite a few times on that stage.

The voice-acting, especially in the anime cutscenes, is so awful that's hilarious. Dr. Light sounds like Elmer Fudd.

I really, really like Megaman 8. It's different from all the others because it's the only one on the 32-bit platform, so the engine got a bit of an overhaul. It has great music--in fact, I think most of the tunes are as good for PS1 as the soundtracks for Megaman 1, 2, and 3 were for the NES. It's bright, it's colorful, it has creative animation, and it's quite challenging. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm currently working on it in the Mega Man Collection for PS2, and loving every bit of it. If you like 2-D platforming, it's probably among the best from that era, even if the gameplay is a bit shallow. (It is a Mega Man game, after all.)

I liked it just fine in the brief time I spent with it a couple years back. I think I preferred it to Saturn MM X4 slightly.

Outside of the bad voice acting I enjoy this game. I do wish they left in "Electrical Communication" (the opening song from the intro) in instead of the generic music for the opening.

I don't have the Saturn version, but I've enjoyed the PSX version.

This is the first cutscene in the game. It has both a terrible mispronounciation of Bass' name, and the Elmer Fudd voice. Tell me this isn't great.

It isnt a bad game, really. The Saturn version is superior, it has Wood Man and Cut Man battles in it (you dont get their weapons though), and better music for Tengu Man, and some bonus features like an art gallery, music test, sound test, etc.

I love the entire Mega Man series. Mega Man 8 isn't the best one, however, being a huge Mega Man fan, I loved it. Buy it, you should enjoy it.

BTW, not to venture too far off-topic, but am I the only one who finds the NES Mega Man's too damn difficult to beat? I've never beaten one of those NES MM games.

Please tell me I'm not alone. Those games just own me. Although it's been many years since I tried 'em, so maybe I might have better success today.

They're hard, but not impossible. Usually there's only spot in the game where I get really stuck for a prolonged period of time; usually in the Dr. Wily stage. You should start with Mega Man 2--it's actually quite easy if you use some logic and beat the bosses in the proper order.

Anyone can beat Mega Man 2. If you tried it again, I'd bet you could do it.

I liked this game a lot, but I've only played a few games in the series, so I don't have much to compare it to. Yes, the voice acting is atrocious, but the gameplay is all spot-on, as far as I'm concerned. The graphics are wonderful, too!

As a matter of fact, it is. Anniversary Collection has Mega Mans 1 through 8, plus the two arcade fighting games.

Just in case anyone was interested in the differences between the two versions. =)

The synth is a bit different on the Saturn one as well, in addition to the different Tengu Man theme.

Mega Man 8 is a great game. I've only been exposed to the PS1 version, but it's a fantastic title. Out of the whole console series, I'd rate it as my 4th favorite, right after 3, 2, and 5. It retains the same action platformer formula with a major graphical overhaul. The sprites look nice and are well animated. And the challenge is still there. A 32-bit last hurrah for the original Blue Bomber, before he was tucked away into obscurity with a final, JPN only release on a system that was beyond dead in the West, Mega Man & Bass for the SNES.

I wish Capcom had released that for the PS1 as well because then it would have gotten a U.S. console release. The GBA port is unplayabe due to the low screen resolution.

Dude, it's megaman. If it's not a battle network game you can't loose. Or that wretched famicom board game.

Go get it. You have probebly played every other megaman. If the title doesn't say X in it then it is like a original megaman game 1-7
