Beats of Rage is excellent, but I'd rather Sega just go ahead and make Streets of Rage 4 and stick it on the 360, Wii, or even PS2.

Well we can maybe in the future have SOR4 and then SORR so please give it a chance.

I voted no. I hate to say it but if they ever do release it SoR4 it'll probably be converted into 3D and be Streets of Rage by name only.

I think you guys are misunderstanding the question. The Remake in question is the homebrew released not too long ago on the PC. Some of the new art is on the budget side, but the game itself is excellent. It has elements of all three of the original games in the standard gameplay, graphics and sound. Also, the ability to customize the balancing and movesets in the direction of either SOR2 or SOR3 in the options menu is well implemented.
I would certainly buy it if someone did a DC version with packaging.
SOR4 on the other hand, well that is A) Never going to happen and B) Spikeout, Final Fight Streetwise, Urban Reign...

I'm all for a new Streets of Rage (preferably 2-D on the DS or PSP) if Sega is actually willing to make it a good game.

I say it would probably suck badly and think they should not shame Sega. The 3rd one was soooo tough i could imagen what the 4th one would be like. Good topic though... GO SEGA

Let me start off with saying SORR is a great homebrew game and tribute. That said, I voted "no". Though it would be nice, the fact remains that it is never going to happen, at least in the forseeable future. A "yes" vote at this point is way too optimistic for me and besides, I wouldn't want to harbor any false hope for it. I know Sega is going back and retreading some of their past glory with games like Alien Syndrome and NiGHTs but, c'mon. If SOR ever gets redone and released on current consoles/handhelds it's not going to be SORremake. Sega is just not that progressive. The best chance I see for this getting a release is in a compilation, as they have included homebrew/hacks in recent offerings.

It is very important that this game comes out on a console because I beileve if the game does well than we could possibly have SOR4.

Because I'm a fan too and I know that 99,9% of all remakes sucked big time.
It's sad but that's my opinion.

As if Sega would ever allow it to be released on any console. Besides, as bad as their reputation may be now compared to the 16-bit days, I'd want a new Streets of Rage game that was actually created by Sega and not some company that had nothing to do with the original versions on the Genesis.

Something tells me a stupid homebrew remake that a handful of people have heard of isn't going to garner enough attention for Sega to give a shit one way or the other. If anything they'd block the sale of it on websites.
I won't count out a streets of rage 4, but I do question how good it would be. Sega does make murder porn.

Why not let SORR come out on psp it's the perfect system for this game even if there is not going to be SOR4 than sega could at least give us this game on a portable system.

We already have three SOR games, where's the need for a fourth remake?

I and about a millon others beileve streets of rage remake should come out on the psp at the very least if sega can't even give us SOR fans that than they relly are a suckass company.

For starters any homebrew game that uses sprite artwork from the original games, is what I consider to be the lowest of the low.
This instance is no better than those horrible fighter mutations created in Mugen. You know the ones where Duck King is shooting hadoukens and Zangief is taking on Mario.
If you want to make a fan homage to your favorite game, then code it all yourself, do all of the artwork, and make all of the music. Creating some mishmash of sprites from a game series, and slapping some "re-make" label on it is doing a diservice to the franchise.
So I voted NO: These re-makes shouldn't end up on a console or even the PC for that matter.

Just because "Beats of Rage" uses sprites from other games (mostly "King of Fighters") doesn't make it any less of a fun game to play. While the sprites and the music aren't original, the fighting engine itself is.
"Streets of Rage Remake" is a homebrew game and should be treated as such. It doesn't really require an "offical" release, it needs to be ported onto a system that already has a homebrew community.

I never really cared for Beats of Rage....but I really, really dig SORR.
Now only if they'd fix controller support for those of us using PS2 controllers on PC. Stupid left analog stick movement only.......

BOR was OK, but there were mods for it that are far, far better.
"Dragons of Rage", "Hyper Final Fight 2" and (to a certain extent) "Hatchet Ninjaz". were more fun than vanilla BOR.
Even the "Rhythm of Destruction" collection offered some better characters with better moves than the original BOR"

The final version is not out yet the ones that vote no need to relly think about that.
