Check out splatterhouse wanpaku graffiti, may have spelled it wrong. Fun game. Most famicom games will be in jp unless you pick up some translations, but then you have to download roms. The spaltterhouse I use to own I think was pretty much all english though.

There are also some good famicom disk system game. Like Doki Doki panic, which is the game nintendo used to make super mario bros 2.

There are two such adapters: the Tristar and the Super 8. However, as they both use NES-on-a-chip technology, the experience is probably going to be inferior to what you could get with a genuine NES (which is also a lot cheaper).

Check out some of the great games by Sunsoft that didn't get released in the U.S., like Hebereke and Gimmick!. Both games are great platformers with a lot of exploration as well.

I was also wondering about super famicom games and the adaptor. Any info on this would be a great help.

Crisis Force great shmup by konami for the famicom.

Interesting thing about it the game intro and stuff is in english.

Makes ya wounder if, Konami was thinking u.s release for it one day.

Of corse it didn't since it ran on it's own custom mapper.

If you asking to play Super Famicom games on a snes no adaptor is needed. It helps to have a game genie as a passthrough cart unless you want to take some sharp pliers and cut off the plastic tabs inside your snes cart slot. The only thing that keeps you from playing super famicom games on a snes are 2 plastic tabs located inside the cart slot that block the superfamicom cartridge from being inserted all the way.

What exactly is inferior about NES-on-a-chip use?

Quite simply, it is not 100% compatible with an actual NES. I don't know all the details, but it was discussed extensively here when the Generation NEX came out (though it has other problems as well). At the very least you can expect some games not to work properly and for the colors in general to be slightly off, as I recall.

Radia Senki (http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/radia/radia.htm).

I loved (http://www.roushimsx.com/wp/?p=174) the game. LOVED. Not terribly difficult, excellent combat system, nice graphics, decent story etc etc etc. Easily the best NES RPG I've played yet.

I'm not sure what "good worth playing in english" means but you can have a repo cart of This game made. It's excellent and you can play it on your NES with the english translation patched on.

I also reccomend playing Sweet Home, and Just Breed this way.

Umm... Radia Senki looks like it's one of the worst NES RPGs. It's maybe slightly better than Super Ninja Bros. Maybe.

Have you actually played it or are you just spouting off?

One nice thing about Famicom games as opposed to later systems is the technological limitations required games to generally be displayed in kana only -- so if you know any Japanese at all they're much easier to play than, say, a PS1 RPG.

Of course for RPGs you probably aren't going to want to sit there with a dictionary on your lap if your Japanese isn't great, but with a little learning of kana other genres are far less impenetrable than the would be for later systems. If you're really interested in JP games, it's something to at least consider.

I have a Super 8 converter and have had no problems as of yet.

Upon reading this quote I proceeded to test my Super 8 with a game that is known to NOT work with the Messiah Gen NEX - Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse.

I am pleased to report that Castlevania III plays with no problems. I played through the first level (with my television TATE from playing Batsugun none the less LOL ) and game played with out a hitch and sound was flawless!

My Famicom games have played with no issue as well but I only have Crisis Force and Recca.

Are there any games that are confirmed to NOT be compatible with the Super 8?

I am not so sure that the Super 8 is have the "NES on a chip"?

I have alot of Famicom games. You may also like to check out MSX computer games and Famicom Disk games too.

This is just tiny list there are hundreds great games on Famicom.

good overhead games (like Zelda, Crystalis, etc..)

Adventures of Valecule
Grand Master

good platformers:

Adventure Island 4 (most exploration of the series and the fruit meter is not in this one)

Cocoron (like Little Samson, Little Nemo, etc...very good 90's Famicom game.

Cross Fire (a bit like Contra)

Ganbare Goemon 1&2 (Konami games starring Goemon mystical ninja)

Genpei Toumaden (or Gestufuu Maden. Konami Samurai game with elements of Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, and even has some 1st person dungeon crawling. This game appears to be from a series originally made by Namco. The Konami one is definately best though)

Hi No Tori Gaou no Bouken - (Konami game your a Pirate character)

Layla - has a Metroid like feel to it.

RPGS? Sweet Home and Radia Senki are my 2 favs so far

Shooters: Over Horizon, Recca, Airwolf, can't think of any more right now

No, Genpei Toumaden is a board game by Namco on the Famicom. Getsufuu Maden is the action game by Konami. The only similarity is the ancient Japanese theme w/ a Samurai character.
