I saw this message on the Wii shopping channel tonight. What do they mean? Will they be charging for the browser eventually, or pulling it entirely? Perhaps it will be a part of a Wii system update eventually? If not, it should. I am of the opinion that this should have been one of the channels right out of the box. It's nice to be playing a game, pause, hop on the net, and get some hints and tips....all from the couch with a remote :)
It's funny that Opera's logo is on the side of the Wii box, but is not included with the Wii initially. This was my first download. Guess just a heads up for the folks that have a Wii and haven't downloaded it yet....do it soon!

I think I read somewhere that at the end of June the browser will cost 500 wii points to download and keep. What we've had all along is just a trial version of the final version i guess. Pisses me off...

What you have now is the full version. You will always be able to use it. Anyone who downloads it starting in July will have to pay 500 points for it.
Basicly nintendo negotiated a time-frame where the browser would be free, that period is about to expire.
As for opera's logo being on the box... how exactly do you think you browse the Wii store? You're using a trimmed down version of the Opera browser. Even though you may not have downloaded the Opera browser, you're still using Opera's technology, hence the logo. With the right modifications, you can browse the Wii store from your PC using firefox.

Oh nice we get to keep using it for free if we already downloaded it? I honestly will probably never use it for anything more than watching youtube videos or browsing forums (if I dont feel like posting that is)

Yeppers, if you d/led it already it's yours without paying 500 points. :)
I use the browser for walkthroughs ect like was mentioned earlier. I also use it to play flash games with the wii remote. What can I say? I'm a sucker for cheap fun. ;) Also use Wiitube to watch some vids with people instead of being a desktop hermit. Just surfing the internet with a group of people is fun at times...

500 Wii points isn't that bad. I thought that It would cost by the month!

Exactly. If I was not one of the lucky ones that downloaded it when it was free I would surely shell out the five bucks for it. It is an excellent added feature for the Wii. I really love surfing around on the big screen with a remote. As said earlier, awesome for youtube! :)

I am assuming somebody has already tried it? That would certainly be nice.
