Damn it... just when my silver brick goes spazzy and I deceide to grab a Lite I stumble across this rumor at Kotaku. Wouldn't surprise me much. The GBA had 4 incarnations if you count each of the two SP versions. Larger screen is a big plus and bigger better spaced buttons for adult hands sounds great as well. I need all the help I can get fighting back my inevitable carpel tunnel. ;) What's the vibe you get?

Of course if they do make it, I'll buy two. One for the wife and another for myself. Plus the entire nation of Japan will pony up as well, I'm sure. That will be 6 DS's I've bought... I think I'm just about out of milk guys... ok?

wow, I think the ds is pretty perfect now as a lite. But I agree that holding it for long periods of time becomes akward because of it's small size. The screen brightness and quality is already the best of any hand-held that I have seen, so I can't see them focusing on that much, hmm....

I'd still buy it at a reasonable price.

If I wanted a bigger DS, I'd sell my Onyx DS Lite and get another Electric Blue DS.

Good. I HATE the DS Lite, having a model that can fit in my hands would rock.

Even though I love my Lite, I'd be all over a revision if it indeed had a bigger screen. At least as big as the SP.

Bigger DS would be great. I love the DS but I find myself playing more puzzle based games that allow me to hold it comfortably. Games like StarFox that are more action based cramp my hand after playing awhile.

the screen is nice, on the lite, but if it were say as big as the PSP, that would be even sweeter, although how many iterations of a console can one handle. what they need to do is make a portable gamecube, that's next in line anyway if history stands true; - gb-bw nes; gbc-- color nes-- gba-- snes---- gba sp, brighter snes, ds --n64, ds lite- brighter N64... next iteration---- portable gamecube.... that would rock.

This is one reason why I don't even bother with Nintendo's handhelds anymore. Constantly redesigning their designs just so they can find a excuse to sell more.

LOL.. yeah, but people buy em, hook line and sinker... :-)

Is it just me, or is Kotaku tossing out a larger number of wild rumors lately?

I'm pretty skeptical about this, but I would definitley buy one with a bigger screen. My eyes aren't what they used to be, and while the DS screen is okay (I have a Phat), if it were a little bit bigger I'd definitely enjoy it more. I'm not so concerned about portability, it just has to be 'small enough'. The small screen is the biggest reason why I never got into the GBA.

I don't think there needs to be a redesign at all. DS Lite is just fine. Let that ride out for the next 3-4 years the make a new system w/ new games.

Well, as technology gets cheaper and as companies come up with new ideas they are going to add the stuff to their products. They are just improving things. New iPods, TVs, special editions of things, DVD players, remixes, PSP Redesign........almost every company does it. So what if they are making even more money off of redesigns? Do you expect to get all of the redesigns free if you bought the first version? The games are still the same and none of them require the newest hardware version.

I could stand a bigger DS... the Lite was absolutely useless, and even the original sometimes cramped my hand (or made me squint). So maybe they're finally making a DS for me!

I just want better accessibility to the shoulder buttons, thats the only flaw for the DS Lite imo

I can second that, but pretty much only that. It's a really nice handheld but sometimes those L/R buttons are a pain with Castlevania.

It would buy it if it was more ergonomic, particularly with regard to the shoulder buttons. I'm still using an original DS.
