I have a vectrex up on ebay that works great but the joystick appears to be bent a little. Please look here...

Can anyone tell me is that the way they are designed or is it truly bent...hopefully someone with a vectrex can check theirs and see...

No it shouldn't be that way. It should be centered. One of my Vectrex controllers is off center like that but it works fine.

Thanks for the info. This one also seems to work fine, but I have no other games to test on it, just the built in minestorm or whatever its called. Do all your games work ok for it?

Yes. But because it doesn't center it is a little bit of an issue for analog games...there aren't many analog games though (Hyperchase is the only one the comes to mind). When playing an analog game you have to hold the stick in the center for "neutral".

Yeah, one of my friends has a Vectrex and his joystick is bent like that. It worked fine with all of the games he had.

Mine was bent right at the top. I unscrewed it, hacksawed it off (maybe a 1/16th of an inch). Screwed it back on, it's straight now! Can't tell the difference.

Thanks for all the info...mods can close this if they want as I have my answer. I did post some of your replies on my auction so people can see what was said. Do not worry I did not post names or handles or where I asked the questions....thanks again...
