Anybody else angry that it takes a good 2 days to beat? I paid $64.03 total for a game i could have rented for $8 bucks and returned it when i was done with it! Sure you still have the multiplayer to do but DAMN could the story mode be any shorter! I play more campaign than multiplayer so it kills me.

2 days?
Heck I beat Rayman Rabbids in about 5 hours.

Sounds like Crackdown then. I'm sure I could have pushed thru the main storyline of Crackdown in 2 days or less. I strung it out a little by getting the agility and secret icons and only playing an hour or so at a time.

It cost money to make video games. The better the graphics, the more work the art team has to do. The more advanced the AI and physics, the more work the programmers have to do. Etc etc etc.
would you rather have a great game that lasts 2 days to beat, or a bad game that takes 100 days to beat, but is so totally not-fun that you only play it for two days?

That same line was used back in the early 90's as well. There were a good amount of games back then that gave you your money's worth due to being more difficult. But that....was another time.

I didnt know the game was gonna be so short, i should have bought it used at eb rather than new, i could have returned it.. I understand that the game takes time to make but for the amount i should atleast get a week or two of gameplay, thats all im saying.

Microsofts system revolves around online gameplay I dont think they are going to focuse on campaign mode to much. Plus If you play more campaign then online i dont think the 360 is for you.

How many hours of gameplay did you put into it? What difficulty did you play on? When i played through the PC version i played on the hardest difficulty (*brag* ;)) and what i can remember it took me some days. I dont remember how many hours i played each day tho, but the game felt pretty long.
Also, did you find all the secret wanted posters? I didnt really try that myself, but that would add some extra gameplay :)

So since id rather play the story mode than multiplayer on my 360 it *might* not be for me? So since the PS3 has online its not for me either considering the campaign could be dramatically better than online for some games? think first then speak. And i played every level on hard besides the first "found that medium wasnt good enough" Didnt really look for the wanted signs but found some. I guess i was a little to excited for a NextGen western and had my hopes up..

sometimes its best to actualy read some reviews or visit the gamefaqs boards to find out how long a game is before you purchase it. Also on a side note you can get the game for like $35 shipped on ebay, or oyu can even atleast sell it on there to make some of your money back.

Completely understood but ps3 wouldn't be a good example to back your answer up because its not an online system like xbox but good thinking though

Play Rogue Galaxy next and then average the completion time of both games...should make you feel better...

I sort of miss games that only take six hours to beat, really. A game worth replaying is a game worth paying full retail for.

Achievement whores like myself needed to replay this a second time on Very Hard anyways, plus do the bonus missions and find all the wanted posters. I got a fair deal out of the game I think. I loved the game too, but I love westerns anyways.

It seems like this kind of thing is happening more and more. It's difficult to write decent AI in a game, and it slows down game production, so companies are putting most of their efforts into multiplayer. Kinda sucks for me, since I only play the single-player modes of games. It seems that campaign modes are an afterthought tacked onto a game that's primarily made for multiplayer. And it'll only get worse as the years go on. Eventually, I'd wager that most games will not even have a single-player mode.

And on that day I am finished with anything but retro games.

I dont ever thing single player will be completely eliminated from games, unless gamers completely ignore 1p game modes and developers feel they are wasting time. With games like shadowrun on 360 and pc that got criticaly demolished in terms of reviews and criticizim for the fact that it did not contain a 1p mode is a sure sign that 1p modes will surely be around for a long time if people demand it.

This is why I think Splinter Cell: Double Agent was so brilliant. Different developers doing single player and multiplayer came up with two completely different games. I'm not generally an online player, but that one was just fun, and because it was different than the main game, those of us who prefer the single player experience were not left out.
I also like the current trend towards multiplayer campaign modes that are optional, in the vein of Gears of War and Rainbow Six: Vegas.
