You expected an announcement, didn't you?
The DP Saturday Afterparty has been quite the event within the event in past years, especially the last two years where it wasn't US crashing someone else's party but rather us HOSTING it :)
If you somehow missed the previous show's shenanigans, you can get some pictorial representation of said shenanigans here (scroll down just a bit for the party):
http://www.digitpress.com/images/cge2k5/
But it's not an announcement. It's a query. Is someone heading it up this year? The last two featured the teamwork of kevates and punkoffgirl who I don't see on these forums very much anymore.
I have a GREAT room already reserved for the party. It overlooks the CGE floor like a loge-level stadium box. It even HAS stadium seats outside of the room. This is by far the ultimate party-ready room, but I don't know who's going to run it. Kevates? Punkoffgirl? Anyone?
Please don't say it's going to be me. Because if you do, we will all surely die.

Kevates lives. But will not be at CGE this year. My wife gave birth to twin girls in February and my mom planned my father's retirement extravaganza/family reunion for the same week/weekend of CGE (they NEVER ask me before things are planned).
Anyway, I PMed Joe and offered to do the shotglasses again and to help however I can with logistics and pre-planning. I have lots of advice based on our past experience and we had no trouble getting dp people to help set up and clean up the last few years.
Who will step up so the raucous, midnight debauchery can continue...

I would offer to bake cupcakes and decorate them like 1UP mushrooms, but I'm sure my room won't have an oven. What kind of "pre-planning" stuff needs to be done?

Sounds awesome but no, no oven in the room. It's kinda like a board room for lack of better description. As I recall there's a kinda bar-area which we could use to serve from but food will probably be on tables in the room.
As for pre-planning - arranging for the food and beverages is the main thing. We also need a "system" for crowd control. In the past we had sign-ups at CGE and/or you could take names from people here. There does have to be a limit to how many people occupy the room which we'll (preferably the party organizer) need to get from The Riviera. Then there's the other party stuff. Will there be music? Game systems? A tournament? A trivia contest? It's really all up to your imagination.
Kevates and punkoffgirl can help tremendously in this area but anyone interested in taking this up (or partnering with someone) feel free to PM me.

One piece of advice from last CGE: please no more cough-syrup tasting shots... ;)
I'd help out again, but for one lil problem: I'm not gonna be there. :( (why oh why didn't anyone invent a teleportation device yet???)

I'm not sure what to add here, but anyone who wants to run the party can feel free to contact me for any ideas, pointers, tips, whatever. I'm just sad that I won't be there to see the 10th anniversary; this should be the biggest party yet!

The nasty tasting shot capable of growing hair on your chest is now a party tradition. I won't be there, but I'm doing everything I can to see that it continues...
2004: Centipede Piss (Green)
2005: Coily's Revenge (Purple)
Any suggestions for 2007?

Don't give it a name, just print a picture of Guzzler (from "Guzzler") extinguishing one of those little mobile fireballs. 'Nuff said. :?

Whatever it turns out to be, please make it some natural combination of alcohol. I don't even know what was in that purple stuff from 2k5 but it just didn't taste "right". Steal an existing drink and rename it if you must. Example: "Mr. Do's Bad Apple" (Apple Shnapps and vodka).

I'm terrible at organizing social events but I'm good at volunteering to help. I'll be in town and am willing to help out with the party. Whoever's heading this up, let me know what I can bring/do.

2004 was simply apple pucker (schnapps) and vodka (centipede piss)
2005 was simply berry pucker (schnapps) and vodka (coily's revenge)

I guess after a stiff round of that, what will happen shall be known only as Video Chuckers (as opposed to Video Checkers).

It must be that "pucker" stuff then - we need to stay away from that. I wasn't the only person who thought we had been slipped a batch of cough syrup :)

any bartenders out there that can help concoct a appropriately powerful yet tasty shot?

There is a real drink aptly named "Afterburner", although I am sure it has nothing to do with the video game. There are three different versions, each by the same name:
Version 1
1/2 shot Aftershock Hot & Cool Cinanamon Schnaaps
1/2 shot Bacardi 151 rum
Version 2
1 oz Absolut vodka
1/2 oz Tabasco sauce
Version 3
1 oz Stolichnaya vodka
1/2 oz triple sec
1 splash grapefruit juice
fill with cranberry juice
All seem pretty potent.

What about Bacardi 151 and rocket fuel?
I seem to recall someone around here once saying that this combination was quite antiseptic...I forgot what name he gave that concoction though... LOL

HEY!, remember 3 years ago Matt when you didn't remember walking back to your hotel after the party and I believe you threw up in the sink?
Matt, you HAVE to do a Chilly Willy with me!

I'll admit that was rather exacerbated by the fact I did ten of those Centipede shots in a row before the pizzas arrived amongst other alcohol. I won't make that mistake again :P

Suuuure you won't...

I believe you! My greatest memory of you at CGE San Jose is having an a in-depth discussion with you for about a half hour after the party in the hallway.
The next day I said, "Hey, good talking with you last night" and you gave me a puzzled look then said, "We talked? Who are you?" :)

Looks like me and my dad got tickets for Artie Lange at the hardrock on saturday night. I was looking foward to going to the party, but Artie live should be a good time. I will be looking foward to going to the party after though. Unless this shindig ends by 12... in which case it wasn't much of a party at all.
