Twin Famicom

alright i am headed to japan in 2 days and the main game thing i am looking for is a Twin Famicom System and i was wondering.

is there any thing other than the usual that i should look out for when checking one of these out?

what would i be looking at paying for such a thing over there?

well aside from the several color variations, I haven't seen any major difference in the systems. Not that I'm an expert. As far as price, I've been eying them for a while, and from what I can tell expect to pay anywhere from $70-120. Super Potato always seems to have a ton of them in stock, and I'm pretty sure they sell them around $100.

I bought one at Super Potato in Akihabara. I paid ¥10,290 for a red Twin Famicom. Which is roughly around $85 US. They also had the black model but it was more expensive so I went with the red one.

At Super Potato they had all their loose consoles all shrinkwrapped together with whatever accessories they came with. So I was unable to test it out until I got back to my hotel. So my advice is to look for the prettiest looking one. Also make sure it comes with anything you may need like an AC adapter, etc. You will see a huge pile of Famicoms, PC Engines, Disk Systems, etc all sitting there with no AC adapters.

Assuming your spending time in the Tokyo area, check out the Mandarake Galaxy Used Game Store at Nakano Broadway in Nakano too. While they didn't have as good of a selection of hardware, I thought they had slightly better deals on games. Plus Nakano Broadway is probably the coolest shopping mall I have ever experienced. I bought a ton of non related game stuff there too. But Super Potato definitely had a bigger selection of games.

I'm still kicking myself for not picking up a Duo-R as well, but the Famicom disk system was my main goal. If you want to see all the goodies I got in Japan, here is my post from the May 2007 finds thread:

I believe the only major variation between the consoles is that the black/green model has turbo-fire buttons, whereas the others do not.

Believe me, it's one thing to look at these games on eBay and another to come face to face with them. I controlled myself for the most part. :)

Check Ebay prices carefully. Last time I looked they were going for about the same as they sell for in Tokyo. They've come way down. If you make you way to a flea market or recycle shop you may find one for cheap but you will probably have to replace the belt.

ok well i am back dealing with dumb disrespctful scum of the earth again...well most of them are. first store i go into since i am back and the lady in front of me was bitching about why the store wont take her check, not once had a problem like that over there.

i managed to nab a twin famicom for 9800 yen at super potato, i got alot at super potato but most of my boxed and PS2 games came from other stores.i'll post more about it later, i got back on the 10th at 5pm (delayed flight from san fran) went to bed at 9pm and slept will 5pm and i am probally gonna log on to wow and see if my gulid still exists, i got lots of pics and lots of games so i may make another thread on OT bout the whole experence.

How much is a Loose AV Famicom there..I'm looking for a cheap one

heh cheap AV famicom. at super potato when i was there (nit like the prices hae changed much in about 4 days) they ranged from 7100yen to 8300yen loose and depending on condition, the Famicom i got had a tag of 4179yen and the Twin Famicom i got had a tag of 10290yen although when i looked at the recipt they only charged my 9800yen for the twin and 3100yen for the Famicom...i think there was a combo special if i bought the system and x ammount of games it was x ammount off.

Figured I'd put this here rather than make a new thread. I'm looking into grabbing a Twin Famicom, but the one I'm looking at doesn't come with an AC adapter. Is it compatible with a Famicom, NES, SNES, or other adapter? If not, what are the specs of it so that I could find something compatible?

The Famicom disk system uses it's own AC adaptor with different specs, not the same as the Famicom.

Sorry, I misread your post, but I would assume it is different since it powers both systems.

I don't have mine in front of me right now but I'm sure the Twin Famicom uses an easily replacable power supply. I know I had one that I used a generic power supply with a few years ago.

yea its different from a famicom/NES power supply how ever i think its output is 12V mabe different, mines plugged but the voltage ratings on the system it self read 7.6V 6.0W
