hey everyone
thanks for the info on my last post. I'm looking into getting more games for my jamma cab. and I've seen that most are 2-4 player each with a joystick and 2 buttons. however there are some that use more buttons. Adding the actual buttons is no prob, but I'm not sure on the wiring. i have seen jamma boards that have extra sets of pins for the extra buttons and i have also found the wiring harness for those. my question is will the games with more buttons always have extra pins to connect to and if not how do i wire the new buttons. i ask because i ran across a Mortal Combat jamma boars that appears to use 4 buttons but i don't see any extra pins for them. the Link is below. please explain this for me.
thanks a ton for any info you have.....

The JAMMA standard is 2 joystick and 4 buttons (2 for each player).

The board in the picture has some connectors in the lower right of the picture (white rectangles). One of those may be for the additional button connections. There are people out there that make the additional button harnesses if they don't come with the game.

On a side note, I have MK 2 Jamma board in addition to requiring a harness for the extra buttons, it also requires a seperate board for the sounds. It doesn't appear to be the case for the MK3 board, but you can't be too careful.

The JAMMA standard is 2 joystick and 4 buttons (2 for each player).

Probably just a typo, but JAMMA supports 3 buttons per player.

Yes the standard is 3 buttons (plus start button) and a joystick. Games can have less than that and still be considered JAMMA, it's just your extra button(s) would obviously do nothing.
