Hi to everyone, I have just joined the forum so appologies to the Admins and Moderators if this is in the wrong place :). I have just got hold of a PAL version of Resident Evil Two. It is a Promo version, stated on both discs. Both discs are Mint. Does anyone know if it is rare, it cost me £1. Thanks. Karaktacus

I have a few of those discs, but for some soccer simulations.

Nobody really cared so I guess they're not worth anything, but! Your game is part of a popular series so they may be worth quite a bit.

the promo discs were sent to stores and magazines by the companies that made the games, so that the employees of said store or magazine could play them and have a good understanding of the product/ review the title in question

promo copies are a lot harder to find since they were only made for store/reviewer use.. thus a promo version of a game would ultimatly total in the lest ranges of distribution

resi evil 2 had a production run of millions as a retail game, therefore with so many copies the value of a promo version would be less than it ought to due to there being so many copies of the game makin it readily available.. given that there are just over 1,200 GAME company stores and not that many indies in the uk it's a safe bet to say that the highest amount of promo versions of resi 2 would be in the 1,000 range max

if you were to sell it you'd be sure to get a bit more than a retail version of the game, however it wouldnt be that much more at all due to the availability of the retail game

Thanks bazariah, Its nice to know that it has some value, and the info behind the promo copies in general. If I do decide to sell it on Ebay ill add it to the end of the thread in case anyones interested, with a time when it will be listed :) Incidentally regarding trawling for bargains I just spotted that some unlucky seller on Ebay recently sold Tombi (PAL) for the PS1 for £1.90, now thats gotta hurt :P

no worries mate, you just gotta see it in the case that everything out there has a value to another person... heck if i wasnt broke right now i'd have made an offer on it

thats the trouble with ebay though.. it has it's good moments but then you can still just as easily miss out.. lol but every tombi i've sold has been over £30 so im happy =]

Never underestimate the power of a popular series. All it takes is 2 crazy fans to drive up the price like nobodies business.
