Can someone please clear up a few questions...
I know that according to the rare xbox games thread that Outrun 2006 is a rare title. I just bought a used copy of Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast for xbox for 9 bucks complete. Is Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast the same thing as Outrun 2006?
Also, tonight I saw a copy of Outrun 2 (not 2006) for xbox for $29.99. Is this a good price? Is it worth getting Outrun 2 given that I already own Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast? Which is more rare, Outrun 2 or Outrun 2006?
And finally, I saw Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast for Playstation 2. I gather that this version is less rare than the xbox version. Is that true?
Thanks in advance to anyone that can answer these questions :)

"Coast to Coast" contains all the tracks and cars from "2".
The only thing I noticed it missing was the original Outrun arcade game as an unlockable.
Outrun 2 for $30 is kinda pricey, I've seen it places for much less. EB here had a used copy for under $10. Much more common than C2C.
I have never seen another physical copy of "Coast to Coast" for Xbox aside from the one I own. I never saw it in stores...EVER. Not used, not new, nothing.
I did see C2C in Toys R Us for both PS2 and PSP.

C2C seems to be rare due to uneven distribution. It seems to be much more common in Canada. If anyone is in the military check out the BX/PX, It seems to be a great place to find games with low distributions. My BX has about 10 copies of C2C X-box left, and has previously carried all of hard to find Summitsoft DS games.

and can attest to the fact that one of the few places to get it in stock is the Navy Exchange. Unfortunately, it's still $30, which is only slightly less than it goes for on Ebay. Fry's also had it, but seems to be sold out now. In speaking to a friend who works for one of Sega's distributors, he says that retailers grossly overordered on Outrun 2 and were stuck with stock (hence all the copies I have ever seen have the orange street date warning sticker on them), so when it came time to order C2C for Xbox, they passed on it, opting instead for the PS2 version since there wasn't another Outrun game available for the system prior to C2C. Also, he said retailers were concerned that it had "2006" in the title since it artificially limited shelf life. So, it's relatively hard to find, but not terribly valuable yet.

Or you could just get the PC version as a downloadable purchase from Sega.com . It's still a bit pricey, unfortunately. (And for some very daft reason, there's no demo.)

Thanks for all the replies! :)
I borrowed a friend's copy of Outrun 2006 for PSP awhile ago, after playing the xbox version last night (which I love btw) I'm ultra impressed with the excellent job Sega did with the PSP version. The graphics are a little crummier (but still excellent) and its otherwise the same game.
Edit: I should add that I have access to another used copy of C2C for 9 bucks complete. This adds support to the idea that its more common in Canada.

I love Sumo Digital for their amazing Outrun 2 & 2006 ports. There were plenty of nay-sayers regarding the feasibility of an Xbox Outrun 2 home port, but god damn did they get proven wrong. The fact that they went ahead and were able to port the sequel to PS2 and PSP while keeping everything fairly intact is just fucking silly.
Outrun 2006 is also available over Steam (http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=4730&cc=US), and despite owning the Xbox version already, I'm seriously tempted to nab it. The price is right, I've got a steering wheel, and has the edge on graphics (no framerate loss, higher resolutions). Yum.

Outrun 2 is an awesome Xbox 1 game. I would probably put it in my top 20 Xbox 1 games. Whenever I get a Xbox 1 again, I'll have to get that game again. I never tried the Coast to Coast one, but I'd love to try that too.

FYI: Outrun C2C for PSP is $9.99 this week at Toys R Us. That's pretty damn cheap.

Wow, I'm going away for the weekend and might pick it up at that price! :)

It does? How do I unlock the bonus tracks from Daytona USA 2 and Scud Racer?

Outrun 2006 (PSP) is still $9.95 at GS, so which should I go with?

Is it worth getting Outrun 2 given that I already own Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast?
Absolutely! Outrun 2 has all the tracks from Daytona USA 2 and Scud Race/Super GT. These are not present in Coast 2 Coast. Right now, $10 US is about the going rate for a new copy.
Also, I recommend the Japanese PS2 version ("Outrun 2 SP"). They fixed the Turbo Outrun music looping, added USB wheel support, cleaned up the graphics, put the shuttle and volcano animations back in, etc... The only downside here is the lack of online play.
Found the XBox version for Outrun 2006-Coast to Coast at Blockbuster tonight for $15. Picked it up along with another $15 game in their BOGO sale on games.
Thanks for the heads-up all.

I think you have to make a complete run (to any end) to get "Outrun" to unlock (it wasn't very hard).
The other tracks you have to unlock by completing tasks. They get listed under a "Special" section.

We're talking about Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast. Someone said it has all the content of Outrun 2, so I asked how to unlock the bonus tracks from Outrun 2.
I know how to get them in Outrun 2, and unlocking the classic Outrun arcade game was the first thing I ever did in that game a few years ago when I got it. :)

Oh.
"Outrun" isn't included in C2C (neither is "Turbo Outrun") and only the main courses return from "2", not the bonus stuff.
So keep 'em both everybody.

Thanks for the heads up on the PSP rev. Now a question about that. In the manual, it mentioned linking with the PS2 and unlocking bonus stuff. Anyone know what they are talking about?
Also, I kinda wish I didn't know about the extra tracks in the Outrun 2 Xbox version. I'm going to end up with every version of this game when all is said and done. *sigh*

goodness, now I really wish that they had released Outrun 2 on PC, instead of just C2C... I didn't even know there was a Daytona USA 2... so why don't they release that one and Super GT for the PC as well? if they're gonna be giving XBOX all the tracks, the least they could do is give PC all the cars!

I know I'm extremely late to the party here since I just took my Xbox out of its original box that it's been in since last September and played Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast tonight, but this is definitely the best version of the game. I've played the PlayStation 2 and PSP versions, and I don't really care about the connectivity between them and this game, as usual, is the most graphically sharp.
Of course, I picked it up as a previously played Blockbuster rental, but I'm glad that I bought it to play even though it is somewhat rare.
Has anyone else played and enjoyed the Xbox version?
I feel like I could play this game forever.

I'm also late to the party, but did SEGA take down the servers for the PS2 version of OR2006? I can't seem to connect to them. Granted, nobody ever played online, but the leaderboards were great.

I quite enjoyed the Xbox release, but the messed up Turbo Outrun music really irritates me. Fading out chip tunes after 3 minutes and starting the track again? You have GOT to be kidding me. This is the main reason I prefer the Japanese PS2 release.

As already mentioned, OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast does NOT have ALL the content from Xbox OutRun2.
*no original 1986 OutRun
*no Daytona USA 2 and Scud Race/Super GT bonus tracks

Well, that solves that mystery. Does anyone know how to unlock those bonuses. I have a copy of the original Outrun 2 around here somewhere. I think it's like $4.99 at Gamestop used now anyway.

To unlock the original Outrun, just reach all 5 goals in arcade mode. To unlock the bonus stages, clear 4 and stage 6 missions. There's also cheat codes to do it as well, which should be easy to locate at somewhere like GameFaqs.
I believe Outrun 2 has a completely different set of missions if your into those than Outrun 2006 on the Xbox (And PSP and PS2 seem to have different or slightly remixed selection of missions than the Xbox one). They weren't my thing, 99% of my time has been spent just running arcade mode in these games, but if you enjoy them its worth having them all probably.
