This has been bugging me for a while now. Why do some have them have nintendo written across them and others are just plain black? Also, are there any other variations?

I also happen to have a Nintendo dust sleeve embossed with red foil instead of a flat color.

Let's not forget the Codemaster's, etc. versions on the dust sleeves: more brittle plastic in which no stickers stick for very long. Outside is also more rigid.

Funcoland had those cardboard dust sleeves with "Funcoland" written on it in different bright colors.

I know some of the Bible games came with cardboard dust covers. One was blue with some picture on it.

Also don't forget about the different covers that the Tengen games came in. My RBI Baseball has some kind of beat up cardboard cover...amazing it's lasted THIS long.

They had different style covers? I only vaguely remember the cardboard slips for Road Runner and Pac-Man though.

Oddly enough I was looking through my nes games and found out that Color Dreams also had their own dust covers. Very cool, thanks for the replies so far! :)

The queerest of the queer: there's actually a Sachen dust cover. It's blue and has a red Sachen logo. I've only seen two, ever. Even I don't have one.

I work for a packaging company and since a lot of my NES games were missing sleeves (and the sleeves themselves suck for letting dust in), I decided to make my own. Basically, it's a cardstock sleeve that the game slides into sidewise with a window cut out of the top so you can read the title. It slides on much tighter than the NES originals, providing an almost perfect dust barrier on the bottom.

Coincidentally, I'm working on a cart sleeve for the Intellivision now, having just completed some bolsters to strengthen the crushed tops and bottoms of the original INTV boxes.

There is also one for the Action 52 game. It is blue and has the logo of the company on it. I have 3 of them and yet I have no Action 52 cart. :(

Every unlicesed producer seemd to have their own sleeves...Color dreams (and the companies that were owned by Color Dreams that went by different names). Tengen, Color Dreams (and now I learn Sachen), I think even HES and American Video, and a few others, but I can't confirm the last 2.

Now, I'd really like to seee that foil one, and the blue and white one mentioned above.....can we see pics.

This sure is a weird thread...never consciously thought of this before!!

I have several AVE dust covers. I saw some from American Game Cartridges Inc as well, though I don't own any.

First one is the original, second is the foil embossed one in the pics.

Apologies for the horrid scan, but you get the idea. Foil one came with Kirby's Adventure, so I assume it was a later release sort of thing.

I have one of the foil ones, though it says Nintendo in gold. If I can remember correctly...
