Is anyone having problems connecting to their online store?
Well it turns out you have to manually set your internet connection to redirect the DNS to their servers on certain routers! LMAO
Not to mention I have the most common router known to man WRT54G Linksys. Also Sony won't even address the issue and instead people are having to figure this stuff out...
Man, that's just bad networking.
This is the first time i'm honestly pissed. Ever since update 1.80 there have been so many disconnect/connection bugs.
If Sony keeps this up we may just see the days of DOS be reborn.

Honestly I never had any network problems till after the 1.80 patch. Must just mainly be this router "which is a great router btw and very common".
What router you use?

That may very well be the most common home router in the US...

I had a Linksys router previously, it was total crap. Constantly cutting out and other garbage, not just with the PS3. I replaced it with a Belkin and never had an issue again.

It seems like it's Linksys' fault for doing such a half assed job with their firmware. I used to have two WRT54G routers and both just loved to have all sorts of random problems (even with the latest firmwares they had to be manually reset every few days). When I flashed up to an open source firmware, all of the problems I was having went away (and then allowed me to set up a WDS cloud, which totally rocked).
Of the people I know with PS3s and WRT54Gs, only the ones that haven't made the jump to the open source firmwares are having problems.
Makes me glad I chucked my Linksys routers out and picked up a pair of Buffalo routers.

Yeah, trust me, it's your Linksys router that is garbage, not your PS3. MY job's network is propagated by these crappy routers and it keeps going in and out, and sometimes not working at all. If you look at electronics store, it's the cheapest brand. You get what you pay for...

I've had a WRT54g for years and I've never had a problem with it. Garbage? hardly.
And it's the cheapest router NOW because it's an older "G" router. Of course the other Super G and "N" routers will cost more.
People tend to find problems where they look for them

Me too. I've had a WRT54G for over 2 years and have had zero problems. The PS3, Wii, 360, Laptop, DS, PSP all make use of it and I've never had any issues.
The "you get what you pay for" cliche is BS when it comes to routers anyway. People who do this for a living will tell you the same thing.
