Why would you want that?
Both Breath of Fire and Suikoden were garbage after #2. They should retire them and come up with a fresh idea.
Silent hill/Dark Cloud, I've never tried, so I can't bash haha.

I'll bash Dark Cloud. Okay, not really, but I really didn't care for #2 (I haven't played the first one). Anyway, you could bet your house on another Suikoden, and I would guess there will be another Breath of Fire as well. I've never played Silent Hill, but I wouldn't be surprised if they made another one of those. I don't think there will be another Dark Cloud, as the team that made it has moved on to other things (Rogue Galaxy, etc).

This was just to ask for somewhat of update information because people in the industry sometimes come here and not a bashing thread. Besides i think Suikoden 2 was good but not great and Suikoden 5 is on par with the first two.

That is blasphemy. Breath of Fire III is imo better than the first two games in the series, and it's arguably one of the top five RPGs for the PS1. That's saying something, too, because the PS1 is one of the best RPG consoles ever.
Obviously the guy likes these series, so you're not really helping him or answering his
I'm almost sure there hasn't been any announcement of a new BoF game.

QFT. I've also enjoyed all the Sui's, and a more polished Dark Cloud would be amazing. It has some great features, but could use some tweaking.
There has been a very tight lip on Silent Hill 5. It is being produced as we speak. All I have heard is that the character will act in the same behavior as that of the character in Silent Hill 2. All I can say about another Silent Hill game is more great music from a great composer Akira Yamaoka.

I'm surprised there are people who haven't tried the Silent Hill series. I'm not a huge survival horror fan, but between the ones I've played, I'd say Silent Hill ranks amoung some of the creepiest and better games in the genre.

I disagree. I prefer SH2 story wise, and SH3 gameplay. Now, if SH1 was remade for current gen... hmmm

BoF3 and 4 are my favorite games of the series. The original was a very basic RPG without a whole lot of character or depth of storyline and two suffered from a poor translation.

What's wrong with Suikoden III? I liked that game...... Haven't played 4/5, tho.
I don't know nor care about any of the other series but SH origins is coming up. And despite looking like a crap RE4 rip off at first it is now a SH game we are more used too.

That my friend would be like remaking Earthbound or Nights Into Dreams...there are some games that should just be left the way they originally were meant to be played.

I wouldn't compare Silent Hill to either of those games. Earthbound's graphics were stylized and I agree, I see no point in remaking it. They were ment to look like a childs drawings and just adds to whole quirkiness of the game. But Silent Hill? The original was just plain ugly, as was every other PSOne era 3D title. So much, that I find immersion difficult with the game, it's just hard to be scared by lego monsters. Prehaps if I'd played the game when it was new I'd feel diffierently, but honestly the game hasn't aged well at all and could certainly benefit from a makeover.

I actually replayed the first Silent Hill recently, and to be honest I found that the "ugly" graphics actually added to the atmosphere instead of subtracting from it. Perhaps it's because the game's sound design is so good - there's something strangely immersive in playing a game where the static from your old radio is more helpful than what you actually see on your screen... So although SH2 had an arguably better story, playing Silent Hill 1 in the dark with headphones = pure gaming bliss :)
I have to agree with Magus on this one. Its the fact that you don't KNOW what your looking at and quite make out what it really is that makes the game so much creepier.
Is that a gorilla or an Ape man chasing me, I don't know just get it the fuck away from me.
You don't know what they are other then to be feared.
2 Wasn't as scary as you know what the monsters are and what their origin is. The grapix were just to clean. Oh that a manuqin. Or Condom man, you know what they are and how they relate to Mr.Sunderland.

NO!! NO, NO, NO!! It makes for the perfect creep out moment. This game, it's not something that should be played when your alone at nite with the sound loud. The babies, the sirens, the darkness. The TV's in the mall. It took me 6 months from the time I got it and tried playing it before I could pick it up again to give it another go and that's only because I did it during the day. This game, it was truely the most scary for it's time.
As to the original topics questions, I know knoami is working on a Silent Hill for the PSP. It has been pushed back a number of times and is I believe planed to have a release sometime in 08. I dont know if they'll eventualy cancle it, release it on another system, or what. I was told it had an American Developer working on it but that doesnt tell me enough to think good or bad of it.
Dont hold your breath for another Dark Cloud game. With how well recieved neither was, I cant blame Sony for not wanting to release any we may have alread missed. The games were not bad, but they just didnt live up to expectations sadly.
Breath of Fire may get another release, it may not. I dont remember 4 selling that well and while plenty of places carried 5 it did not maintain a high enough demand to keep its price from plumiting. I believe it can often be found for $20 and under new at most major gaming stores.
Suikoden will probly get another release. I'm going to wager it'll either be for one of the next gen consoles or handhelds vs the PS2. Konami knows it's been well recieved but I think they may place it on a back burner for now and use it as a trump card somewheres down the road.

Yep totally agree with you here. I enjoy just about everything else about the game, but the bad early PSX 3D kills it for me. As long as they kept everything else the same, including having the game be incredibly dark as compared to the other SH games, I think it would be a great remake. Look how awesome REmake was.
You know what I think would be great, a Suikoden for the DS. I would be sneaking that to work every freaking night.

Suikoden VI is a definate... it's just a question of when.
Silent Hill 0rigins is coming to PSP.
Breath of Fire VI (or V since Dragon Quarter wasn't numbered) will most likely happen.
It seems like Level 5 is off to bigger and better things, though. have you seen videos of White Night Story. Maybe some day we'll get Dark Cloud 3.
Another Dark Cloud? God I hope not, that beaten horse was dead from the start. The first one was just frustratingly poor and the sequel didn't seem that great from what I've played.

All I know is I'm damn glad Origins is rumored to be fixed from all the horrible issues I watched in an old preview gameplay video. I'm glad it was in such an early stage of development, I knew they'd turn that shit around and abandon the RE4 ripoff game they were making.
I don't know how well a SH1 update would work out, mostly because the grain filled low poly graphics help that game out so much. It's quite an old game now and the audio in it absolutely amazes me to this day. The frantic and bellowing ambient noises played while roaming the dark areas of silent hill just rock in that game.

Say what you will about the BoF series, but leave Suikoden out of it.
I really enjoyed Suikoden 3. So much, I imported the LE Japanese version with the nice book-type packaging. Granted I will admit the whole appeal of 2 was over half the Stars of Destiny returned. 3 and on lacked that. Except for Futch, Viki, Luc, Jeane, Apple, Sasarai, Lucia, ect in 3 and Ted, Viki, and Jeane in 4, and..fuck if I know who's in 5. Pretty sure Viki and Jeane are there, since Viki can time travel and Jeane is believed to have a true rune....
Anyways, it was nice to involve all that time and effort into certain characters and then see them return and grow in a sequel. That's probably why I'm not a big Final Fantasy fan. On the other hand sometimes this could get old.
Then again everything is an opinion. I down right loathe Final Fantasy 6, but loved Orphen on the PS2.

Breath of fire III was the best in the series to me. I didn't like Dark Cloud at all, but I hope we see another Silent Hill. Hopefully one that tells the backstory of the town and where the people went.

Couldn't the same be said for BOF 2. Bow, Katt, Rand, Sten, Spar, and Jean barely had a role in the storyline.........

The fanmade Breath of Fire 2 retranslation project should finish up one of these days; the German version is already finished. This is a major, major overhaul of SNES BoF2 - not only is the dialogue getting all spiffed up with gramatical corrections and improved faithfulness to the Japanese original, but all kinds of nice little graphical effects are being added too.
