I don't use my Philips CD-i much due to a lack of software. Last time I did, I accidentally pushed the game in too hard due to me forgetting that they are placed in more delicately than most disc based systems.
So when I turned on the system, it would not read the game. I fiddled with the system for a bit and eventually figured out the problem. It was off track. Within a few minutes, I managed to have it working again. I have a few questions.
1. Does the CD-i occasionally go off track during gentle use?
2. If so, is it easily fixable like I mentioned above?
3. Even though my discs are being read again, is there a chance it would still be a little off track to the point where my discs would get scratched, the system might go off track all the way again or even get worn out faster than it normally would?
I noticed the loading time in the next game I used, Shark Alert, was excessively long during the Trivia questions and wonder if there is still a very minor problem with the system which causes it to have problems (hiccups) while reading/loading stuff or if that is normal for that particular game.
Sorry for the painfully novice inquiry but I grew up on cartridge systems mostly. Not to mention this has got to be the most delicate/fragile disc-based system I have ever used, at least when you are putting games in or taking them back out. Cheaply made, I guess? I just hope there is nothing to worry about with it because this boxed CD-i was one of my better thrift store finds over the past several months.
Thanks in advance for any input :)
