Well, I got my free SNES system yesterday as described in the June 2007 Finds thread. I looked at the back of the system and the spot for the power cable has two small prongs in it, side by side. The bottom of the system calls for a DC 10v 850mA. What the hell is this thing? I'm used to the large hole in the back for a power supply.....What gives?

There's supposed to be a little plastic part in there over the two prongs you see. Someone had the power supply plugged in at one point and gave the plug a good push/pull to get the little plastic part to break out of your SNES. The plastic part basically combines the two little prongs you see so that they connect to the center of the SNES power supply plug. Only alternative I can think of is to pull the socket from another SNES as I've never seen this specific type of jack from any electronics retailer - then again I've never really looked.

Ouch. First I find out it's Canadian (joking....) and now this. Thanks for the info, man. I guess I'll figure something out.Anyone with a fried SNES that doesn't need the piece? Wishful thinking never hurt....

Bend the two metal pieces apart slightly and then slighty bend one up and one down. If you do it right, it will hold the plug in tight and it will work. If you dont bend them out enough, the power will go on&off.
Good luck!

I got a SNES mini exactly like that (i live in canada, might be a problem with our systems mostly) and when i seperated the two metal pins a bit, the plug fit in tight and i never had any problems with it. no, its not supposed ot be like that, but if you bend it right there will be no problems.
