Hello everyone!
Just got from a friend yesterday a Famicom. It's the first version, it has some kind of AV mod to it and I've got with a 'generic' power supply. Since i'm all new to the famicom world i'd like to know if there are any cool mods to be done, schematics of the famicom itself in case of some electronic problem, pretty much any info on it is welcomed. One thing that i'm looking for is the nes to famicom adapter... is it something easy to make? are there any schematics around?
And also, do you guys recomend anything special to clean it? It's too yellow :P
If you guys need any pics of the board and the av mod that was done on it, i'll get to open it soon and i can take some pics...
Thanks for all the help!

You should be able to buy a 72->60 pin adaptor on everyone's favourite auction site.

Unfortunately, mine is the same way...there's not much you can do about it really, it's the nature of the plastic that was used (Japanese PC Engine systems suffer the same fate). I've heard of people disassembling the system and soaking the case in some kind of bleach mixture, but I don't know how well that works and I've never "experimented" with mine.

Yeah, I looked at it on eBay... but I didn't find a vendor that would sell to Brazil... But it doesn't seem to be too complex to build... isn't it just composed of tracks?

Well, I did think about something on these lines... but I think the stickers would fall :P

You can always spray paint your yellowed console. Find a paint that is nes colour and tape over any bits you don't want sprayed.---Simple:)
Probably best to talk to someone who spraypaints to see if you have to coat it with something first or after and what type of paint to use.

Thanks for the idea and link! I'll be sure to look into the spray paint idea, it seems that its the only way :)
AV mod and a generic power supply eh? Is it a real Fami? :D
I'm pretty sure it is... anything in particular I should look for in it to be sure it's a real Famicom?
Haven't played anything on it yet since i have no games whatsoever... but i did found a schematic about the 72 pin -> 60 pin adaptor... it seems pretty simple... along with it i also found a master system -> genesis adaptor, which is also pretty simple.

Do you have any games for your new Famicom?

No, not yet... but since I'm not having much time even for the other consoles I have, I'm not worried about it... I was looking briefly at a complete japanese Gradius on eBay a couple of days ago... that's probably gonna be my first famicom game...

Just my opinion, Gradius II is a lot more fun than the original Gradius, and it was never released for the NES. It's worth checking out for sure!
Good luck with your Famicom. There's a lot of great games out there for it.

Haven't played Gradius II yet, so I'll give your advice a go!
