I posted something about this in the antiques roadshow thread already but this is more of a should I or shouldn't I get it kinda thing. A good condition PS1 Kiosk display from a fleamarket. He wants under $300 for it. It is in working condition, everything looks to be intact. Its got that special AV connections on the back of the PS1, it also has all the display marquees intact; one of which is FF7. I'm not asking for how much is it worth "I already did that in the ARS thread", what I want everyone to do let me know if something like that is worth buying? I can put a picture up tomorrow if it'll help. How collectible are these store units? I want to set it up in my room but I also wanna know whether or not this is something I'd be able to sell if I needed the money or space. Any insight will help, and I'll get pics ASAP (I asked the lady at the fleamarket if I could take a pic).

"Special" AV connectors? Is that different from the AV connectors (RWY) that were on all(?) early model PSs?

no I believe it is the early model one I am talking about. The one that people are trying to get $1000 for on E-bay (SPCH 1001). I attached a pic of the model PS1 thats inside. I'll just try and post the picture of the whole thing tomorrow and I'm sure it'll help a bit.

I bought a Gamecube display unit for $200 a couple months ago. It had been sitting in the gamestore for months; they lowered the price four times.

Personally I think a PS1 unit in good shape would be worth $300, but reselling it could be tough.

yeah I don't know, I'm considering it, but I have so many other systems set up to play, got the neo geo mvs in the basement, who knows where I'd put the PS. I don't know, maybe it wouldn't be the smartest thing to buy. I'd rather take that money and get a couple of Saturn games to get closer to the complete collection.

You might be able to hook other systems up to the kiosk. I added a GameBoy Player to mine, as well as placing an N64 on top using the same TV.

Its really not worth 300 unless you REALLY want to pay it. I've been offered full kiosk units (with original TV and stuff) for much much less than that (though he wanted rid of it pretty badly). Now if the system was marked promo (other than with one of those red stickers on the top of the CD doors) then it would be worth something, though still not the 300. What kind and model TV comes with the sytem? Sometimes those are replaced and not an original part of the kiosk unit and if you were looking to have is as part of a collectors thing, as original as you can get is where it holds more value.

The reason the idiots on ebay are trying to sell those PS systems for 1k is because for some reason the CD player aspect of those early PS systems is super top notch and crazy audophiles really get to hear everything on the CD's they are playing.

If you buy it for $300, you probably will take a loss on if if you want to resell.

As for the RCA capable PS1s, i'll vouch for the audio quality on those. Especially if you rip out the op-amp.

$300 sounds like a lot for a kiosk from just a couple gens back.
