Well, I had enough of having a well-built PS3 with only a couple good games and sold the thing. I'm now the owner of a Xbox 360 elite and I just have to say that the xbox live service is absolutely awesome. I've downloaded a ton of the demos and arcade games and I'm having more fun playing those than the actual games I got. The PSN have scant few demos and not much of anything at all that's fun. This is all fun and so much more intuitive to use. My goodness, this is like night and day difference here. I love how I can play online with voice and actually hear people talk without it sounding like a fax machine going off in the background. The games play smoother, something I'm very happy about. But, the live service - just beyond belief how good it is. Well worth paying a small monthly fee to have.

I enjoy Live, but exactly how much are they paying you?

LOL. I'm not on the payroll. I wish. I think it's just that the PSN was so bad :(

To be honest, Im exactly the opposite. Ive been on the XBL train since the beginning, and its just beginning to feel like its not worth the money anymore, so when the renew time came in June, I didnt. Microsoft is taking their superior network and putting it to waste, failing to deliver on content that was in the works on the original Xbox, including user created content, and native clan support. In fact, they still havent delivered with the 360 marketplace like was promised, so while the PS3 network is proving to be less then great, its better then paying for empty promises.

I agree. The Xbox live service is pretty great. I've had my 360 and been online since last December and absolutely love it. It's pretty much all I play anymore unless none of my friends are online, then I'll play my PS3 or another system. There are several things I wish that Microsoft would add to the paid live service though, the biggest thing being multi-person chat.

Since we're on the subject of PSN vs. XBL, why does it take 5 - 10 minutes to download and install updates for games or the system on PSN? XBL updates take 3 seconds...if that. PSN feels clunky and half thought out.
It's almost like they want PSN to be undesirable in order to push this stupid "Home" BS that's coming out this fall. Most of the PS3 owners I know are adults and have absolutely no interest in lame virtual communities filled with faux hipster identities. So are we going to be stuck with the half-assed PSN? I think Sony needs to realize that not many 13 yr olds own their new machine. They need to ditch Home and start improving the PSN interface. Chop chop!
Anyway, in summary: Xbox Live Good, Playstation Network Bad.

I always wanted multi-chat to....but then you run into the problem with everyone on the same team getting into a chat which would then eliminate proxy chat in games.

Yeah ,that's my experience with PSN as well. Also, after you download a demo (the few that there are), you have to click the icon to install it and wait a little longer. Not near as smooth as XBL. An improved interface and MORE CONTENT would solve a lot of the inadequacies of their service.
I also thought Home sounded dumb but you never know how it'll turn out in a year or two. I'm going to sit back and see what happens with it. So far, it looks meh.

I know that the PS3 disk based games also use an install feature also. They didn't do that with xbox360 because not all systems made came with hard drives. The PS3 games utilize the hard drive when the game is running (whether it be on CD or downloaded). What the hardrive actually does for the game, I don't know because I'm not much of a techie with that kinda stuff. I do agree that the XBL setup is far beyond the PSN and may always be for as long as the systems last. In the future, I can see both platforms having plenty of worthwhile content.
