Will component cables for the ps3 work for the ps1?

Component cables won't work on the PSX. S-Video is as high as you can get. You can, however, play PSX games via component on a PS2 or PS3. Yes, the PS3 Component cables will work on a PS2.

S-Video is as high as you can get.
Actually the PS1 can output RGB as well. But yea, no component YPbPr. 1995 was a little early for that.
