Has anyone had good luck repairing Nintendo Game & Watch units? If so I need some help...

I have a Parachute unit that doesn't seem to want to move left or right (the two buttons) but otherwise works fine. I opened it up and checked the contacts and they're clean (at least they are now), but I still can't move. What could the problem be? I can't see any cut traces or anything like that so I'm at a loss.

I also have a Donkey Kong unit that was working until I decided to take it apart (don't ask, it needed to be done for another reason). Anyway I can't seem to get it back together right. I can get the bottom screen to work, but I can't get the top to show any LCD images (Mario or Donkey Kong). I think the problem is the little ribbon cable, since I can't remember where it goes (underneath one of the two screen films I assume). Can anyone tell or show me where I'm supposed to stick the end of the ribbon cable?

Hi Tempest,

I am amazed to find your post as I have the EXACT same problem with my Parachute game. Have you had any luck fixing it?

THanks,
Ian

I havn't ever gotten inside of those but are the buttons the same as most electronics of that nature? Traces on the circuit board(or sheet of plastic) that are bridged when you press the button? I used to fix calculator buttons by putting a tiny piece of aluminum foil in the button. You can also try cleaning the contacts and the metal piece in the button with alchohol first.
