Argh at another exclusive I need to pick up. I might need to bring some more money then I was expecting. These exclusives are getting me excited. I feel like it has been years since there was a homebrew/proto I had intrest in getting.

Is this a long-lost prototype, or a homebrew made in semi-secret?

The cover (if that represents a gameplay screen) looks amazing, by the way. That's like being there...not a bad feat for the ol' Vectrex.

I'm intrigued. Were these actually originally made and kept locked up in a warehouse somewhere for the past two decades, long forgotten about? Or was the code created and never printed (Until now), and the original code has only just been found somewhere?

I wonder how much they will go on sale for, or will there be furious bidding wars? How long before one goes straight on eBay?

It's most likely a release similar to Cube Quest in 2002. Pitcher's Duel has been known to exist since the death of the Vectrex, with the odd screen leaking out. Afaik there's at least two protos out there, I wonder if either is the source for this repro release?

One thing for sure, I've already started the shopping list (three people already emailed me to get one for them!)...

Woulda been eBayed...from what I've seen CGE releases are about bringing previously unavailable games to the crowd with a decently sized print run

So, for instance, maybe one day we will see a print run of Propeller Arena?

Well, within their ability. I think PE's been locked up for all time by Sega, and that's not a case where rights can revert to the original programs, I'm afraid.

I'd like to see it happen, though - wouldn't we all!

Wow, I've heard about this long ago in the usenet Vectrex group but never thought a cart form would surface. Hopefully I'll be one of the first 100 to get a copy. Also I hope they limit the purchase to 1 per person because it's an CGE exclusive with limited quantities.

It's a game that was programmed back in the day and unearthed a few years ago when John, Sean and I went out to visit one of the original Vectrex guys. There's a GREAT story behind the game's development that's revealed in the manual. It is 100% complete and looks great but the great story and the unusual interpretation of baseball rules kinda go hand in hand. I won't spoil it - play it at the show!

And to confirm, this is a CGE Services Inc release.

I saw 70 sell on ebay from Sean Kelly a week or two after CGE. Naturally they went in a day or two, just like whenever he lists multicarts. I'd guess that isn't the last of them though.

On the topic of the actual gameplay, what does everyone think? I like it, how it's only hitting and pitching; I'm not very good at it though. I think it would be very good in multiplayer, but I haven't had an opportunity to play with anyone yet.
