The year was 1999 I was 7 years old, my bro had just convinced my parents to let him buy a gameboy color. Jealous, my sister used up her baby sitting money to buy one. She quickly got bored with it, so I asked her to have it. She said for 40$ she would give it to me.
I earned about 1$ a week( talk about child abuse), so I did some extra chores and about 8 months later (seemed like forever) I finally got enough cash. Now I Daniel Jameson, would be the owner of a game system. I held the precious item in my hand, ready to play it like I was a rabid dog sitting in front of a pile of steak.
I hit the power switch, I see the magnificent gameboy logo appear before my eyes, and there was this evil black bar at the bottom. Thats when I realized, I didnt have a game to play! My sister had sold all her games on ebay.
I felt like crap and for an hour I just stared at my gameboy, like it was a murderer of my spirit. I realized I would have to do even more work, after this 8 month ordeal I had just accomplished. I was thinking, of waiting, all those months, earning enough to buy a game for this devil of a system, this wasn't a toy, this was hell!
It was at that moment my mom came in, she was so impressed with my hard work that she was gonna take me to Toys R Us to get any game of my choice. In that instant my spirit was restored stronger than ever before, and that night as I popped Pokemon Blue in my gameboy, I knew what it felt like to live the American dream!

Pretty good story.

EDITED - That's what I get for skimming down the end. Thanks, rustblackend.

Pretty good story. I would maybe add a bit at the end specifying what that first game from TRU was and how you felt when you finally plugged it in.

Excellent story.

As charming as this story may be, it's still unfortunately beyond the scope of the classic guide.

- Remember your subject matter. This book covers everything from the dawn of gaming up to and including the NES system. Don't post an essay about your early days with your Sega Genesis because it's outside of our scope. For a complete list of systems covered in this book, see THIS (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/../dpg_plug_classic.htm) page from our last edition.

That's why I'm holding out for the Advance Guide to tell my stories

I think it was 100 or 109$ if I remember, so I was ripping my sister off but doing a whole lot of work.
