this game regularly makes people's all-time greatest lists, so yeah, everyone remembers it. I have to sheepishly admit that I've never played more than a few levels of it though. :embarrassed:

This is one of my all-time favorite games, and probably one of the top 10 most popular games ever.

Come on, man. You think everybody here sold off their NES systems and all the people on this forum play is PS2, PS3 and XBox 360?

I actually reviewed Super Mario Bros. 3 for this web site, so I sure as heck remember it :D

http://www.digitpress.com/reviews/supermario3.htm

Looking back, it is a pretty rough review. I gave the game a real good score. I mean rough by saying I never proofread or edited it before mailing it in. That was my first draft.

I just thought I'd reiterate how dumb this question is for you kids that grew up in the late 90's.

Woah, Pokemon dethroaned Mario!

but to be fair that list takes into account 3 games counted as one... and completly neglects the pal region sales figures

I bought the game the day it came out, I was in my early 20's. Still in my top 5 faves of all-time.

What surprises me is the Gran Turismos. I knew they were popular; I never could really get into them myself. Always preferred the arcadey stuff I guess.

@Bangtango: Did you notice that your review has the tab header for Super C instead of SMB 3?

@HerbertWest: Round the fall of '01, a sci-fi shoot 'em up was released. Do you remember Halo? ;)

I remember my mom took me to Kay-Bee toys after class to go pick this game up the day it came out. I ended up beating it later on that evening (after many tries, and well before I ever beat SMB1). I was almost as happy that day as I was the day I actually got my NES. Definitely one of my best gaming moments.

I think he's thinking of the one with the Mother Fucking snakes on the Mother Fucking plane, not the one you're talking about.

Isn't this the game where you fought Nazi's...or aliens...or Nazi aliens?

Probably some Nazi alien vampires?

Yo. What was the Fred Savage movie they first showed Super Mario Bros. 3 in? It was Little Monsters, wasn't it? Fred and the monster guy crawled out from under some kid's bed while he was sitting on it and playing Mario 3 LOL

I will always have fond memories of Super Mario Bros 3 as it was my very first import game I played. I was like "wow, the cartridge is so small compared to ours" and I remember having to pull on a red ribbon to pull thec cart and converter out of my trusty ol' NEs. *sighs* memories.....

Oh yeah, SMB3. The fat guy with the tail.

Where the ... Where is Tetris!?!?!

Would Tetris really be up there? I always figured the Gameboy one was the big seller, and it was a pack-in which this list excludes.

Still though, something seems off in this list for me. I mean isn't this list saying that DKC is the 19th (excluding pack-ins) most common game ever? I dunno, just doesn't quite work for me.
