I apologize if we've already discussed this to death...but I still find it interesting. No real surprises here for the most part...but I didn't expect to see Nintendogs on top of Grand Theft Auto.

Shows you one thing: Nintendo knows you can make more $ when you sell to ALL audiences, regardless of how many adults buy your game. Just simple math, really.

This must not be counting PC games since I don't see WoW or The Simms on the list and i know that they each sold over 8m copies.

Something that DOES thrill me however is not seeing a EA game on the list.

CONSOLE games. As in "only games sold on consoles."

people have always said that Pokémon was Nintendo's license to print money and now I understand why. I've never really been a Pokémon fan but i have enjoyed most of the games on the list

Thirteen games out of twenty are Nintendo games and three DS games already, wow.

Counting Pokemon Red, Blue, and Green as a total doesn't seem right.
Same with all of the Nintendogs versions.

That's bizarre, I would not have expected Super Mario Land to be on this list. Especially not at #4. I played it a few times and found it to be a very strange game. I didn't care for it.

I am not a big Pokemon fan, but dang, that is a crapload of copies sold. Mario Land at #4 does not suprise me, as it was released as a very early Gameboy game in the hayday of Mario Mania.

You have to consider the gaming climate at the time. The Game Boy didn't really have any good games at launch besides Tetris. Mario 3 hadn't come out yet and kids were clamoring for a new mario platforming game. Truth be told, I never cared for it much either. I don't even remember finishing it back in the day.

I don't get why it lumps together the Pokemon games... I mean, I know they're basically the same game, but releasing different versions and then combining the sales into one figure inflates the number. And, it apparently doesn't combine the sales of a game on different systems, but it still combines Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver. Hrm.

It's a little annoying that it specifies "console" games and then includes portable games. Game Boy isn't a console.

I am surprised how many DS titles are on there, given that the system hasn't been out all that long. It is truly a phenomenon. What's the source for this, maybe they have other numbers?
