Ya, you know the gray boxy one? Not that stupid one with the James Bond game, but that really old one? I'm not talking about the kinda recent one. I heard that people still play it.
Is that true?
If so, that is cool.

I forgot the name of the system you're talking about, but surely whoever knows about it is old, worthless and very very uncool.
I heard somewhere that that system didn't have a Madden or GTA series. What's the point then?

I hate that thing. I guess it's got better graphics than the Atari 2600 but the games all look the same to me: Move sideways, shoot, pick stuff up, move sideways, shoot, pick stuff up...that doesn't sound like fun at all. I don't like that little pad either. What's wrong with a joystick? It has two fire buttons? That's too complicated, and the only kids I see expressing any sort of interest in the thing are all under ten years old, plus it looks cheap in that plastic case. Fifty dollars for a game?! Forget it! Which way to the bargain bin? I'm just going to get a copy of Secret Quest for the 2600 instead, thanks.*

The dog in Duck Hunt gets fleas, doesn't he? He must. I wonder how come you never see him itching when you are playing Duck Hunt. I wonder what they do when he gets fleas? Do they use a flea powder or do they use Frontline Plus or K9 Advantix? And who rubs it on him? Nintendo interns who are just there for the summer? Man I gotta write to Nintendo about that shit. That should have been a Nintendo Power contest. Whoever wins gets to shake flea powder on the Duck Hunt dog. It would have been a contest if the NES had held out just a little bit longer :(

Well, all joking aside, I volunteered at a high-school teaching phys. ed classes this past year, and I was talking to some of the grade 9's about my video game collection. This is how the conversation usually went:
"I have that really old Nintendo"
"OH! You have a Nintendo 64?!"
"No, The old old one."
"You mean SUPER Nintendo?"
"NO! The old old old ORIGINAL Nintendo!"
"What?"
Makes me laugh every time I think about it.

"Wow, you must have a lot of money to afford all those Nintendo games!"

I just finished 11th grade, and surprizingly, there are quite a few freshman that know what the NES is... I showed a few of them a slideshow of my systems on my PSP, and they even knew what the 2600 was. However, no one except for some of my teachers knew what a Commodore was. I recall a conversation with one substitute that said they wished they had their Intellevision back, too.

The youth of today, theoretically, should be more educated when it comes to video games, but it appears as though they only know some of the major titles and nothing about accessories and technicalities, or even some of the systems that were at the height of their popularity when they were in elementary school. They know the NES, but they are clueless when they hear about the Sega Saturn.
It all makes me laugh, though. Ha, ha! Ignorance! ROFL

Last summer, we had a classic gaming night at a local game store here. Some 7 - 9 year olds were playing Contra, and not very well. I showed them the classic code to up their survival chances, and their actual response was:
"I didn't know they HAD cheat codes back then!"
True story.

Do games have cheat codes NOW? If so, why would they need them? Modern games are fricken' push-overs compared to back in the day.

OSG's Toll Free number in action.
Me: OSG, Steve speaking!
Caller: um hi, is this OSG?
Me: Yes it is! How can I help you?
Caller: yeah, do you fix games?
Me: Yes we do, we fix game consoles, and occasionally fix game cartridge software.
Caller: Do you fix Nintendo?
Me: (short pause) uh..Yes.
Caller: Mine is broken. How much to fix it?
Me: What type of Nintendo is it?
Caller: I don't know. What do you usually charge?
Me: I don't know either. What kind of games does it play? I need to know which of the more than eight Nintendo manufactured consoles it is before I can give you more specific information.
Caller: It plays Nintendo games.
Me, OK, great. Are these games on discs, or on cartridges?
Caller: It plays tapes.
Me: O---kay..... What colour are these tapes?
Caller- mostly grey I guess.
Me: And what happens when you put a game in and you try to play it?
Caller: The red light flashes
Me: /relieved sigh Oh! Well then! You likely have an original Nintendo Entertainment System there, and we service those....
This does happen.

That so true. They can't possibly work after all these years, it's so impossible. Is that the one with those un-ergonomic controllers? Too many buttons on it in my opinion ~ Why would I want to run AND jump at the same time? That's just crazy talk
