For some reason i didnt find a single Killzone 2 thread on this forum so i had to create a new topic. Anyway, anyone remember the CG movie from E3 2005? The one where alot of people said Sony sucked because they said it was in-game, but later on it was told that it was pre-rendered?

Well, tonight the game will be shown for the very first time :) There will be a screening in Santa Monica tonight (10th June), starting from 9.30pm and running to around midnight. I dont know how much media that will be given out, but i'm sure we'll see something (or alot).

Question is, will it live up to the CG trailer from 2005? We'll find out real soon :)

Media will most likely be released at the major gaming sites like IGN, Gamespot and GameTrailers.com.

I have a lot of faith in the ps3, I don't think we'll see the fluid animation from the CG movie, but I think that the team will show a game that is at least up to the gears of war standard in graphics.

My guess is: Not even close, if they intend to show ingame footage.

Yes, thats a real screenshot, and my god does it look awful in 720p:

I hope it looks better in motion...

I keep thinking of the 'real footage' of the Gundam game and when the game came out, it looked absolutely nothing like the supposed footage shown before. I would love for Killzone 2 to look like that, but I have doubts.

I'll be looking forward to this. The small amount of play I've put into the first Killzone is pretty nice, it's a shame I played it after beating Quake 4 on highest video quality because it made the PS2 look like turds.

I'm totally jazzed for this. I had a great time with Killzone, though I'm really looking forward to when the PS3's software emulation hits the NTSC PS3 so that we can see the framerate smoothed out. Not much they can ever do about all of those bugs (some of which were awesome, such as shooting a shotgun under someone's chin and sending their body up into the ceiling), but a smoother framerate would do wonders for that game.

One of these days I'll get a PSP. On that day, I'll also purchase Killzone: Liberation (which is actually Killzone 2, but since they didn't throw the number at the end is considered more of Killzone 1.5), because I heard it was extremely hot, too. Plus, I love when they change up a game's gameplay to suit the strengths of a platform instead of trying to shoehorn it in. FPS + PSP = ICK :(

The leaked screenshot of Killzone 2 doesn't look too hot, but I'm looking forward to seeing everything in motion. God, I hope it runs smooth. I know I'm asking for a lot (considering it's Guerrilla), but less bugs would be awesome, too.

I heard the game build they will be showing is still in pre-alpha mode.

Anyone who tells you that a game is running in "Pre-Alpha" is lying to you.

Looks pretty good! :) The first scene where they fly looks very close to the CG movie.

Don't get me wrong, it definitely looks fantastic. Great animations, great atmosphere, what looks to be fantastic blood effects... I may even go as far to say that in that video it looks better than Gears of War.

But the E3 2005 video it aint.

I agree that it doesnt look like the E3 2005 CG movie, but i dont think anyone really expected it to look just like that. I cant think of any games that look like a CG movie (that is done well).

HD version is up now :)

The graphics are very very grey, looks like just another standard fps to me, yawn.

I've been hearing more naysaying about this game, than positive comments. Too bad everone seems to be on this game. I think it looks great. I could care less what it looks like vs. a 2 year old demo, or Gears Of War, or Halo or the first Killzone, or Pac-Man for that matter.

I think I'll wait until it's out, play a demo if it's available, and if I still have any questions to whether it's worth my 60-70 bucks, I'll rent it first.

As to the comment that it looks like any other first person shooter. Yeah, it does. They all do. It's pretty hard to reinvent the wheel I suppose. But, you can give it nice rims and hope people buy it for sheer cosmetic value. I'm not really sure what you could do to a FPS to change that. If you add wings it's a flying game, and if you add Pinatas it's apparently a gardening game. Put a couple demon heads on your back and it's the Darkness, make it brighter, add some motion controlled plungers and it's Raymans Raving Rabbids.

As for myself, I'm simple folk. Give me good control, good graphics and a bunch of friggin bad guys to mow down in an assortment of ways, through various paths, and some big mother friggin' guns, at least 10 hours of game play and I'll give you my 70 bucks. That's 7 bucks an hour, and around my area a movie costs more after you buy popcorn.

Back to Killzone. Im looking forward to it. And I'll hope that they earn my 70 bucks. But I won't worry if they don't.

That's nobodys fault but Sony's. If they had come out of the gates right away and claimed it was a target render, not realtime video, there wouldn't have been all this horseshit and they wouldn't have needed a 2 hour conference just to proove that they did a hell of a job getting kinda close to the "realtime video" of 2005.

And it bears repeating...

I agree sony wrote a check that the just couldn't deliver. The thing I think is people don't like to be mislead. At the 2005 e3 everyone was going ga ga over the killzone 2 video that was posing as a game people bashing microsoft 360 for showing real gameplay that didn't look close to killzone 2.

That was unfair to the buyers and press. If a store did it it would be called bait and switch. It was unethical.

Fast forward 2yrs which means 3yrs developement and it is still not as good as what was shown. I am looking forward to the finished game and it does get me excited but Sony set the bar.

For what it is worth years ago nintendo I believe ran a demo of super mario 64 at a e3 event. People were blown away then it was revealed that The game was running from a super computer behind a curtian and not an actual unit.

People started to feel like they were being mislead. To nintendo's credit when the n64 launched nintendo had supermario64 running in all its full glory
on the 64 from a cart. At launch ontime identical to the e3 demo.

I've watvhed everything I can find from E3. Unreal Tournament, Killzone 2 and Crysis are clearly the best looking games graphically, though Ratchet and Clank could be sweet.

I have no doubt that it will surpass Gears of War visually; if you look at what's going on in the background with visually and audibly it shows an attempt to create a more realistic enviornment.

The only fault I see here is they did not commit to a release date, just 'early 2008', and that means Christmas next year in the game business.
