Hello fellow DP'er. I've been a member for slightly over three years (March, 2004 I believe). But for the last eight to nine month I havent been on the DP forums, I'm not sure if anyone actually remembers me or anything. But I just spent the last eight months in Japan. With a host that I met threw Globalfreeloaders. So I just wanted to say I'm back and that I bought a lot of Japanese game titles and I'll post some pictures within the next week or so. Anyway I picked up a lot of Import Saturn games. I also picked up games for famicom, Super Famicom, a Nintendo DD and a lot of loose games.

I almost forgot, but I have a question. I know the voltage's are different for wall sockets in Japan and America. I havent had the time to hook any of my import consoles up to play. Because I was curious what I should do to hook them up? Just plug them into the wall, is there some type of adapter to convert the voltages? Any suggestions?

As for the hook-ups, I believe Japan works on the same system as Canada, which would mean the same as America, right? All the things I plugged in there worked. You shouldn't have a problem.

not to get off topic, but how was globalfreeloaders program?
looks interesting.
head down to radio shack and buy either a voltage converter for japan to US, or a universal converter (has many different prongs).
This is the only was to go about things :D Do they have japanese power strips?

The collar do! The あ it is to do, about 10 months you had lived in Japan. Being too high, to buy the game of former times, the money it is the り applying, all the way, you saw. It is envious. 64 DD game what you took?
BabelFish, poor for translations, wonderfull for a quick laugh!
I think I have an idea what you were saying atleast. I wouldnt mind knowing what games he got as well.

Don't worry about the voltage thing. The difference between the two standards is so small that it won't do any harm to just hook it up directly.
"Welcome home! I also lived in Japan for 10 months. It was too expensive for me to buy a lotof old games and I didn't have enough money, but I did see quite a few. I envy you! What 64-DD games were you able to procure?"
Close enough, WinterWind. :)

I'm still in Japan for another week been here since mid-June staying at my grandma's place in Osaka. Let it be known that the local scene for gaming shops kicks Super Potato and Den Den Town's ass when it comes to pricing. They simply can't be beat. I posted some of my haul early on in the Import forum but I'll be back to update it sometime next week.
I'll be returning back to Tokyo and Yokohama this coming March (still a while to go) for ryugakusei so I've been on the fence as to buying some more games and waiting until then, but I've definitely got some space left in the suitcase for Seiken Densetsu 3 and Policenauts.

ill go there one day
There are retro games everywhere! Walk into any random hentai/anime/assorted toy store on a side street (the type that caters to otaku) and you'll find a box in the back. I randomly poked into a shop in Funabashi and saw Mother and Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy all still in their boxes. I wish you luck adding to your collections!

From now on, when anyone in your family gets home from somewhere, you must greet them with "The collar do!"

This thread is fun.
Instead of showing up as Japanese text it looks like everyone is talking to each other with numerous question marks.
Awesome. LOL
