Is it just me or is Ubisoft filling the same role as Rare did for Nintendo during the SNES-N64 eras?

It's Nitrobike that got me thinking for it's obvious relation to ExciteTruck (to be fair Nitro will have online play). Which reminded me of Mart Kart 64 and Diddy Kong Racing.

Then you have
Petz - Nintendogs
My Coach - Brain Age

I don't know if that enough of a trend but it is interesting that Ubisoft is really betting heavily on Nintendo, and cribbing from them. And it appears to be working...

I just hope we don't see Prince of Persia Chariot Racing anytime soon ;)

Cheers,
Ben

Rare is a developer, while Ubisoft is a publisher. Ubisoft is comprised of several development houses and also publishes other (non-Ubisoft) games under their brand. Two totally different things.

EDIT: Fixed the title for clarity...

Yeah I just thought of that right after I posted. But it still seems similar to me in terms of filling the support role on Wii and DS as well as making very similar games to Nintendo's bigger hits...

Cheers,
Ben
