OK, I'm thinking of getting a Famicom to replace my NES (but I'll still have it though, I have no plans of selling it), and I need to know which setup would be cheaper: AV Famicom+FDS or a Twin Famicom?

I always say you can't go wrong with a good old fashioned top loader. Check the 'Bay and be patient. Or better yet, check buying and selling and see if anyone here has one to part with. You might pay a little more, but the better quality is worth it IMO. Good luck!

Except I already have a top loader (I've had mine for about 12 years). In fact, I'm using mine in place of my toaster NES right now, but the RF quality isn't exactly great on my LCD monitor.

A Twin Famicom or Famicom/Famicom Disk System combo will probably end up costing you about the same price. That being the case, you'll probably want to go with a Twin Famicom as it has A/V output. A FC/FDS combo is only going to give you standard RF (just like your NES top-loader) without a modification. The FDS also has its own AC adapter which is somewhat hard to locate (it also can use batteries).

There's a Twin Famicom on eBay right now (although it's lacking a power supply):

First off, I mentioned the AV Famicom, not the original one. I don't think getting a power supply is an issue, seeing as how the Twin Famicom (as well as the Famicom and FDS) use a standard 9VDC power supply. They should work with a Sega Genesis power supply or equivalent.
