Space Channel 5 metal tin info needed

While out hunting today I found this big metal tin for Space Channel 5. Paid $1.50 for it.

I was wondering if anybody could tell me any history on it. I wasn't able to find anything on my searches. So was this a promo item or a pre-order goodie maybe?

From the little I knew of it, the thing was a give away to store managers. I'm not exactly sure for what but it was definitly no pre-order item as it wasnt offered by any store chain I knew of. A number of years ago back when the game was first released there was a local funcoland who's manager had one. She'd show it off at the store constantly but refused to sell it let alone tell anyone much info beyond she was the only one to get one in the store. It's a nice find but as far as value goes I'm not sure it demands a premium. I'd say the value is mostly to those who liked the series.

Thanks for the info. I'm not a big fan of the game myself but thought it would at least be good decor for the game room.
