Just wanted to pass along some high points about this year's auction...

Expect to see some great rarities on the block, including an original Intellivision 1 Keyboard and a whole selection of Vectrex goodies.

Proceeds from the Vectrex auction will go to charity. Thanks to Chris Romero for putting that together!

Also, look for the return of the "Mystery box of crap". Last year, one lucky bidder walked away with a Magicard for the 2600; for under $100 if I remember correctly. Expect a new twist on this theme with some great items hidden inside.

Remember, we collect $2 for each auction item which goes to charity as well. And we don't accept common stuff, so no 2600 systems with 30 games please.

As anyone who has been there can tell you the auction is one of the most fun events at CGE. See you all there!

John

Coming from Europe
I was wondering if there was any way to submit items for charity and see if they are accepted or not before leaving for USA
so I know if I have to carry them or not...?

Is there any way to give out items for auction there? I have a few items that are quite rare but don't know what to do with them. :p

I was the one who won the Magicard "last year", which was two years ago already! I did indeed walk away with that for $100. I used it to help finish my Nes Set off, and look forward to seeing what mystery boxes are there this year!

After the Magicard, I'm betting bidding on the mystery boxes are going to be insane this year. I'm looking quite forward to the madness.

What are you meaning exactly? People that have stuff that they want to put up for auction will be able to try and enter it into the auction Saturday day/afternoon (at least thats how it was done previously). There are a finite number of spots and if the stuff isn't good, then it won't get accepted. A copy of MvC 2 for the PS2 isn't gonna cut it.

However if it doesn't get accepted or you don't choose to toss it into the auction there is the Swap/Sell room that you can setup your stuffs in and try to sell/trade there.

I won't be able to attend CGE due to the fact that I have no money. I was hoping to set up something so I could sell an item there. I dunno, send it to someone or something.

I'll just send ya a PM.

The CGE Auction is quite possibly the one event you do not want to miss. Even if you do not purchase any items, the whole spectacle is as good as it gets. Come listen to John entice the salivating to bid like crazy. And then see the reation from the crowd when they win, and also realized what they just lost.

Don't forget the CGE2K7 Special Corona Bucket-o-Beer. What started out as wonderous, life changing bottle of golden bliss has now metamorphosized into a whole bucket of goodness that will have you seeing god and emptying your wallet for charity! (If you can pry it out of John's hands after the gavel sounds.)

And to provide a little more detail on the Vectrex items on the Auction Block:

Boxed Vectrex system with boxed US Games. In great shape of course! The entire auction proceeds of this item to benefit the CGE2K7 designated charity, The Salvation Army.

VecFlash USB CGE2K7 Special Edition. This set has a customized tag and a special modification just for the show! In addition to the "Special Mod", this VecFlash USB is also the second generation of the USB line with super fast load times. The VecFlash USB is a user loadable Vectrex Multicart and is being provided courtesy of its creator Richard Hutchinson, over at http://www.Vectrex.BIZ (http://www.Vectrex.BIZ). The entire auction proceeds of this item to benefit the CGE2K7 designated charity, The Salvation Army.

The "Mystery Box" will also make an appearance (or maybe more than one appearance) at the auction again this year. For those of you who weren't there, the Mystery Box is an item or a collection of items in a box that goes up for bid without the bidders knowing it's contents. The box may be filled with relatively common items or ultra-rare item(s). In 2005, one of the mystery boxes was filled with about $50 worth of common games while another had a 2600 Magicard in it! Both boxes went for UNDER $100!

CGE2K7 Auction News:

It's confirmed Michele Fiori's Vectrex Wrap + Alex Herbert's Protector Limited Edition (LE)!!

Michele Fiori has donated one of the Vectrex Wraps from the first run for the CGE2K7 Auction. This is a Signed, Limited Edition version stamped and numbered 7 of 40.

Also part of the lot is Alex Herbert's Protector Limited Edition (LE). Every Vectrex fan and collector knows what a prize this complete game really is. For those of you who's focus is on another platform I will tell you Alex Herbert's Protector LE blew the socks off of everyone when it first came out. Not just because the game is a fantastic Defender port to the Vectrex platform, but the whole package was well done too! This includes the box and overlay.

The theme for Protector matches well with retro nature of the Vectrex Wrap artwork. Every desk should have a miniature arcade-quality upright. Put a Vectrex together with these items and you will have it.

The proceeds of the sale will go to the CGE2K7 designated charity, The Salvation Army.

More news to come.... stay tuned!

In response to a question on my blog about the PS1 prototype I'm bringing for the auction:

The PS1 prototype is a space/sci-fi game.

The PS1 prototype is part of a franchise, though not a TV or movie franchise.

The PS1 prototype bears very little resemblance to anything else in that franchise.

The PS1 prototype was never released in any other form (i.e. under another name).

The PS1 prototype is not made of wood, nor does it float.

Anyone intrigued yet? LOL

Yeah, you need to get to work on that, 'cause I want THAT prototype! LOL

Another hint: the PS1 game I'm bringing would've been published by Accolade.

No more hints! That's all you get! :evil laugh:

It's playable, but not complete-a-whole-campaign complete.

You can, in fact, blow lots of stuff up and get blown up.

Can Someone no post the auction results as a whole?

The VecFlash-USB CGE2K7 Se cart went for $200. A Steal in my opinion.
