My guess is that it's because he failed at Rock Band.

wait is there something im missing, peter moore leaves MS to head EA sports, and former EA prez comes to MS?

um.... how close are these guys?

would be very interesting to see a corporate alliance between EA and MS. all EA games to be xbox only, that would immediately slaugther sony. although EA would lose some money.

Funny, the last time Peter Moore left a company..they went to shit...Sega Dreamcast release anyone? I don't trust the guy, he's too shady and knows something. You just don't make an excuse like "Going to leave so I can be closer to my family". Something's up and it smells like Peter Moore's breath.

All of these Xbox 360's being repaired, could be a sign the company isn't doing so hot. Plus the failed launch numbers not being 12 Million, instead it was 11.6 Million wasn't it? I hate secrets the game industry keeps and I wish these companies would be straight forward instead of hiding crap like this.

Are you seriously trying to push the idea that Moore is jumping ship because Microsoft is going to go bankrupt?

They're offering the guy almost $6,000,000 and up to $1,000,000 yearly. You figure it out...

That god, I was afraid he may tatoo his scrot next with a Mass Effect logo.

Microsoft isn't going anywhere. But the question on my mind is whether the Xbox as we know it will survive past the 360.

I heard the reason he resigned was because his feelings got hurt when some smart asses on a video game forum compared him to Ming the Merciless. Poor guy...

Are you seriously thinking that Mircosoft would go bankrupt? I'm focusing on the 360's situation, not the company's.

We all know that. Yet that's a good question you bring up. I wonder what the 360 will end up as..

You're saying that he left sega when the company flopped, then you're asking if he "knows something", then you say "the company isn't doing so hot". Forgive me if i take your comment to the logical conclusion.

The Xbox division *can't* really go bankrupt, as it's really just a structure within the larger Microsoft corporation. I think it takes a ridiculously broad leap of logic to think that Microsoft is going to mothball the division anytime soon.

Well logically, your comment is only assuming. Fact is, we all knew Peter Moore bailed out of Sega, because he knew something was going to happen.

History does have a way of repeating itself. However, since this is Mircosoft. You won't see anything happening, but I just have a feeling that Peter Moore knows something that the public doesn't know.

Not to mention the other MS exec who dumped 6+ million in MS stock without scheduling the sale... a little risky, considering all the "inside trader" heat they've been laying on execs lately. Too risky, IMO, to do only on a whim. Something IS afoot in Redmond. :hmm: What exactly is anyone's guess... ultimately, time will tell. Perhaps the catastrophic recall I've heard whispered here and there?

I don't understand why, considering the 360 has the largest installed user base amongst next-gen systems and a filthy-rich parent company that is obviously deeply commited to the brand.

Guys- remember Moore was the one who had to come out and give the "We F@#^&ed up yall, have an extra year warranty" speech.

I think you're thinking the wrong way. XBOX isn't going to go under- I think Microsoft may have suggested Moore go on his way.

I found it really odd too that Peter Moore did E3, then...split from Microsoft. He probably took the fall for $1 billion being sent for warranties. Either that or he knew Microsoft would have to do something with the 360, lined up the job with EA, and after E3, got out of Microsoft. And someone's above comment about the Dreamcast and Moore leaving rings true.

I don't think Microsoft is going anywhere any time soon, I just don't think the X-Box 360 will be a Microsoft-manufactured product due to the whole recall/rebate/newer versions coming out (don't be surprised if the 360 Elite has problems too). I highly suspect that the X-Box's future will be as a Vista/game system hybrid manufactured by other companies (like Dell and HP) or some online gaming service on the computer. Basically, 3DO gone full circle. I will most likely be wrong or so I hope.

I think the real problems will be the failure of Vista to capture anyone's interests.

Maybe Bill plans to buy EA.
