Most of us have had the experience of forgetting a game is already in our collection and buying the same game again. But do you find that there's a game you *don't* have that you always forget you need?
I've had Deadly Duck for the VCS on my want list for years now. It is not an especially hard game to find. But I always forget...do I need Deadly Duck? Or is it Beany Bopper? Or Fast Eddie?

I forgot that I needed Defender. I could have sworn I had it and then I went home and I didn't. I have it now though.

I told someone once I'd sell them a copy of Top Gun that I assumed I had. Turned out I didn't, so that was a game I 'needed' without remembering so apparently. Of course, now I'm stuck with ~5? copies of it.

It is usually games that I let someone borrow and then never got back. Either those or games that were actually stolen from my collection. Since I've "forgotten" that these games are missing from my collection, I always neglect to grab another copy to replace the one that is gone.
When I had a bigger 2600 collection a few years ago, before selling it all off, I was actually missing some of the more common 2600 titles like Kangaroo, Empire Strikes Back, Carnival, Donkey Kong, Pitfall, River Raid, Atlantis and Adventure. There were a few others that I can't remember either. I had regular opportunities to get all of those games but kept passing them up because I was sure they were at home somewhere. I was always wrong.

You were doing him a favor by not having a copy. I wouldn't dwell on it. I bet the guy you were going to sell it to now has 5 copies of Top Gun, too :)

It is not a need really, but often I look at Dreamfall: The Longest Journey for the xbox.I always say I'm going to buy it and I never do. Now that I've typed this it does feel more in the need column.

I just bought a lot of Turbo Grafx games off eBay. I thought I neededed 6 of the 14 games I purchased. Turns out I only needed 3 of them. It was still a really good price, but not quite as great as I figured. Now I need to sell a bunch of the stuff I just bought.

The other way round, I often buy games little realising I already own them. Still, ebay's always willing to take them off my hands. :)

I do it all the time... especially with PC games... I'll be surfing around on ebay and stumble onto one and go oh yeah, I really need to pick that one up... but I always seem to find them when I don't have the money for them, and then when I do have the money for them, I either can't find them anymore or I forget what I was supposed to be buying and I buy something else instead...

I do the same with 2600 Activision titles.
"Okay, which do I need? Was it Oink!, Plaque Attack, or Keystone Kapers?"

This always happends with the various Dreamcast sport titles. They all tend to blend together and I always seem to forget exactly which ones I have and which ones I need. I should really write it down when I go to the local used game stores.

I always confuse "want" with "need" but yeah, I forget all the time.

Oh yeah, I always go to the store and try and buy Fire Emblem for the Cube- like, every time. I already have it- i've had it forever- but, I ALWAYS forget.
