On one of my marquees, there is this white filmy stuff on the back that seems like I could peel off. My question is, is it supposed to come off? (Sort of like peeling the backing off a sticker) I'd hate for it to turn out to be the actual printing for the marquee, but it doesn't seem like light could travel through it terribly well (as far as the fluorescent backlight goes; I need to replace the starter on mine).
I can post a picture tomorrow if I need to explain it better.

I'm not exactly sure of the manufacturing process nowadays, but a lot of older marquees (Spy Hunter, Centipede, etc.) were actually silkscreened onto a piece of glass. Many other older marquees are the hard plastic type (pac man, zaxxon, burgertime, etc). Newer style ones are a very flexible material, I'm not sure what the printing type is, but I would wager that the white stuff is actually the back of the artwork itself. (Sadly, I've learned from experience NOT to use Purple Power, or even windex to clean these...don't worry, it was a cheesy marquee anyways lol). If you are in doubt, try to "clean" a REEEEAAAALLLLYYY small area, like down in the corner, where you wouldn't see any potential damange.

I assume you're talking about your MVS-2-25, and yes that's the marquee's "paint". Don't worry, it backlights just fine.

Okay, thanks. I won't touch it, then. It's just strange, because my other marquee doesn't have that.
