CVG has the disappointing news, originally reported in the pages of EGM, that online co-op play will not be available when Halo 3 launches this September. In the game the second player would play the part of the Arbiter character, but fans will only be able to complete the campaign cooperatively via LAN or split-screen. Bungie stated the possibility still exists online co-op could be patched in at a later date, but significant hurdles stand in the way of the feature: "'We're not dumb,' says Bungie's Frank O'Conner. 'We know that people want it and we're trying to make it happen. I think the biggest problem for us for online co-op is that we have a situation where you can be in a Warthog with five troops, almost a mile away from the other player. That's a significant challenge. And there's lots of design things you could do to prevent that from happening, but they would make it not feel like Halo anymore. If we can make it happen in a way that works well, we will - and if it works badly, we won't.'"Read more of this story (http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/07/18/164212&from=rss) at Slashdot.

Ehh, not a big deal. I've got about 3 or 4 games that have a Live co-op feature but never use it. As long as it has online multiplayer, I'll be fine.

Yeah, I'm not too concerned either. How many people are buying Halo for its campaign mode anyway?

Count me as one of 'em. I love the multiplayer but the campaigns have always been awesome too. I've been craving some online co-op for a long time. If Gears can do it, than Halo should be able to follow suit.

GOOD!!
There's always some idiot, out there, who has beaten the game, and won't hesitate to spoil it for those of us who haven't, yet.

I'm surprised that they didn't implement the features that were in H:CE where if you got too far behind you 'warped' up to them when the other characted passed the loading zones. That would have not allowed for that whole MC+5 in the warthog(which should be real interesting especially since the only thing i've seen pics for that can hold close to that is the Turret less Warthog that can hold 3+driver or the Scorpion Tank which is 4+driver) and the other character to be on the other side of the map.
Doing that whole jump at loading never felt too annoying or took away from the 'Halo' experience. I'd get more bugged when a teammate would die and because it still felt you were 'in danger' that it wouldn't let the other player re-spawn.

As long as there is a co-op..offline or online, I'm still okay with it. Besides, it's Halo...when you play online you'd rather kill each other...then help save mankind..

I much prefer offline coop anyway. Love playing a game sitting next to my buddies!!!!
