They both look identical in 480p.

However, the Wii automatically displays games in 480p (if you are using component cables), the Gamecube doesn't. To utilize 480p in a Gamecube, you need to hold down the "B" button while the game boots up for the first time. Fortunately, once you save the game, the option to switch to progressive scan (480p) will come up each time you start the game. The Wii is also smaller and component cables are a lot cheaper.

I retired my Digital Out Gamecube with component cables the day I bought my Wii.

cool thanks for the info. only reason i still have my cube around is for the gameboy player. not that the digital out on that makes any improvement for gba games :)

Actually, it does. If you have a digital out w/ component cables, your GBA games will be displayed in 480p. Believe it or not.

that doesnt matter since their resolution is shitty anyway.

Can the Wii display games like REmake and RE0 in 480p as well? Those games are only 480i on GC.

I'm wondering that too. There is a setting in the Wii menu to change resolution from standard tv to enhanced tv (EDTV or HDTV). I wasnt sure if that only applies to Wii and VC console games and not GC games....

I played resident evil 4 for GC that turned out to be 480p even tought it doesn't say on back of game that its progressive scan.
I think the wii makes it 480p. but tell you the truth i looks like crap on a hdtv maybe because its not a progressive scan game ill have to try a game that does support P.S.
your better of on a tube just my opinion but then again my eyes were used to my sweet 360 at 720p

It still helps

And GameCube games are only displayed in 480p if the game originally supported it, the Wii can't upscale 480i only GameCube titles.

Resident Evil 4 is 480p.
