I got mine from GameFly today. I plan on spending a few hours with it later, or tomorrow. I'll give a first impression if I can.

I got it yesterday and have put in 5 hours in on it already. It's a dungeon crawler, which I don't like, but it has enough fan service and the "just one more quest..." factor going for it. I'm entertained. :)

As a huge Tales fan I love it. It's quest based. You go to the guild and get a quest, set up your party, then go to the dungeon and do it. Rinse and repeat. There's not much story and only Luke and Tear are given reasons for actually being in this world, but it has a ton of Tales fanservice and banter between characters (like Luke yelling at Kratos).

The battles are pretty much lifted straight from Tales of the Abyss (along with many enemies and NPCs as well). Graphics are good, load times are short, and most characters have the same voice actors as they did in their original games (if that game had english voices).

Out of Symphonia, Legendia, and Abyss, only Raine and Lloyd from Symphonia have new voices. Genis, Kratos, Senel, Luke, and Tear are all the same actors.

So basically, if you really like the Tales series and don't mind a quest based game instead of a "true" story RPG then you'll like it. If you've never played a tales game before and you can't tell Will from Kratos then you'll end up with a slightly above-average dungeon crawl full of references you won't get.

The battle system, like Overbite said, is pretty similar to TotA. The graphics are pretty good, but the draw distance in the dungeons could be a bit better.

I'm late... but I concur. Not overly impressed, but enjoyable.

Probably the best graphics/quickest loading times I've seen for a PSP RPG thus far. I don't like mission-based dungeon crawlers but I've put about seven hours into this - it's addictive and part of the draw is definitely the characters from previous Tales games.

Wouldn't have minded another Eternia character or two, though.

I usually dump my games onto memory stick, therefore eliminating load times. Also lets the battery last longer as it's not powering the UMD drive.
