I just decided to browse and see what they added to the PSN Store and, while there are some movie trailers and trailers for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (2 videos), Ratchet and Clank and InFamous, what struck me was they now have Castlevania: SOTN available for download to play ont he PS3 or PSP. Not that its a HUGE deal, I just didnt expect it after showing going to the Xbox Marketplace....

Dammit man my psn store won't load cause of some isp issue with their dns sever or something.

Been dealing with this for months since the 1.81 update.

Good to hear they brought it out though. I may just try formatting my ps3 I dunno, cause i'm beyond frustrated.

I'm interested in how the port is. I own a zillion different copies of the game, but if it's better than the 360 version I'll get it! I didn't get the 360 dl version because I heard bad things about it.

It would be nice if PSP owners, who don't own a PS3, could get some of that content. I wouldn't mind being able to download some PSX games, without having to result in modding my PSP.

Oh well, at least SOTN is coming with Dracula X Chronicles.

Well isn't that interesting...I'm downloading it now. I'll report back after some impressions.

I'm interested in how the port is.

It's the PS1 version, so unless you really love the achievements and quirks of the XBLA version then it's superior. :) No point in buying it (other than support Konami and Sony) if you already own it on PS1, because it's the exact same (just like the other PS1 releases on the PSN).

I was seriously worried I'd get Digital Eclipse'd, but I ended up plunking down the $10 anyway (because I wanted to show a little support/love) and I guess I got lucky :)

(note: this does mean that we're stuck with the shitty prerendered cinemas, but considering we also get the decent audio quality, it's a fair trade off)

Can't wait for the PSP version, as it seems to be the definitive release. Well, once it's unlocked anyway.

Awesome! I'll be buying it for sure when I get my "new" PS3 back from the repair center. I own 4 copies of the game currently, so this'll make number 5 :)

It looks great on the PSP. It has the standard features of all the PS releases for PSP/PS3. The default screen size is too small, so I set it to the "normal" setting and it looks just right. As mentioned before, this is the PS version through and through...the "rocky" Konami logo appearing out of the ground and everything.

The PS3 controller also feels perfect while playing the game. It's like playing a NES game with the original rectangular game pad...it just feels "right". The 360 controller never felt that way with SOTN.

A bit off-topic, but I still wish they'd do a re-release with the Saturn extras (I have both versions, and while I like the Saturn version more, the slowdown does get to me at times). I know I can't be the only one who feels this way :)

Anyways, this is great for people who haven't played the game (or no longer own it). I know some people will be mad that will most likely devalue the original copies somewhat, but I couldn't care less, honestly.

I've also seen some people (mainly on other forums) complaining that it doesn't have the achievements that the Xbox360 version does (and that somehow makes that version "superior"...), but come on...those "achievements" are ridiculously easy. Defeat Slogra and Gaibon? Unlock the IC? Come on. Most people who have played the game before can get them all in under a day.

What gets me, though, is how this seemed to pass under the radar. I only heard about it today. The 360 version was announced months in advance, it seemed.

I bought this just so I had a portable version of it on my PSP. I also own a few copies of the game, but this is one of my favorite games, so I definately needed a PSP version. No I couldn't wait till dracula x chronicles.

Does it have I am the Wind as the ending song? Because they put that in the XBLA version then took it out when it got updated last month. I was pissed. Sure, the song's cheesy, but it's still nice. Then they remove it. I paid for that song, and now I don't have it anymore. It's bullshit.

Really? I didn't even notice. I know SOTN had an update recently on XBLA, but what a lame thing to do. I'm not a fan of the song myself, but I think it's a bit concerning that MS has the ability to remove content at any time from already purchased games. It's a slippery slope IMO.

Exactly. I considered getting rid of my 360 because of it. I was just so upset.

How is it? Does it have the CG intro? How's the sound?

Also, I heard that if you have a wireless router, you can network your PSP through your wireless router and through the wired ethernet connection of the PS3. That way you can get all the PSP wireless features.

I'm pretty sure you can use the cable that charges the PS3 controllers to get the data from the PS3 to the PSP.

yeah that is all you do.

1. turn on both systems
2. download PS1 game
3. install PS1 game
4. switch PSP to USB mode (with PSP connected with PS3 controller cable)
5. hit triangle on the controller
6. select copy
7. wait for it to install on your PSP
8. It'll be under games \ memory stick.

make sure you got 355 MB on your memory stick though first.

Confirmed. That's the cable I use to do it.

Yep, the built-in-wireless only simplifies the ability to transfer to the PSP; the lack of it doesn't stop you from transferring to it (either via a direct connection as explained by mailman187666 or through a wireless router on the network).

Can't wait until I get one of them new PSPs (...with the old style battery and the new back plate) so that I can really make use of the neato PS3->PSP connection functions.

Awsome, I was kicking myself after getting a 20 gig because I thought I couldent do all the ps3 to psp stuff (the day of portable final fantasy 7 will come! and no I dont emulate on psp...) so knowing that I can still transfer with the 20 gig makes me really happy with my system, I mean if I ever run out of space on my ps3 I can always just buy a larger hardrive...and at the pace I am buying games and stuff for my ps3 I think that will take a very very long time :)

Anyway I have SOTN on PS1 and 360, it is tempting to buy it from the PSNetwork, but if I remember correctly isnt there a castlevania game coming out on psp which includes SOTN on it?

This fall, last I checked. (May be the last game I buy for a while.)

In the meantime, hundreds of people (myself included) are praying that maybe, just maybe, the PS1 original will go down in price to something, well, THAT'S NOT EIGHTY DOLLARS. :p

Not going to happen. The price of the PCE Dracula X will not go down as a result of the PSP release either.

Yeah I just found this out today...what horseshit....instead it's this odd remix of "Vampire Killer"? Wait, is this even from CastleVania SOTN soundtrack??

Just downloaded this "since 1.90 update fixed my connection". It's BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

Upscaling and smoothing makes this game look great! Hardly seems like a ps1 game.

It's better than ever and no lame changes or modifications, just the original game, but much sharper and pretty.

I don't know if you all knew this or not already, but once you download SOTN onto your PS3, you can copy it onto as many PSPs as you want. I put it on mine then I told my brother to try it out for shits and giggles (I figured it would have some kind of copy protection where you can only put it on 1 PSP) but no, both my brother and I put the the game on our own PSPs without having to redownload or repurchase anything. Any of my buddies that got a PSP is gettin' SOTN for nuthin' (cuz I'm a nice guy).

Just out of curiosity...are there still any loading times? Is the slowdown still present in the IC Chapel? I'm assuming that's a "yes" for the latter, but maybe a "no" for the former.

Yep, still has the load times.
